    • Hilda: Here you are, Deke, for you, saved it special. Kay: Thank you, Hilda. Uh, hey, this got teeth marks in it. Hilda: Only on the icing. (team laughs) Street: Hilda, have you ever heard of the Board of Health? Hilda: Sorry, I have enough customers. OK, TJ, how about a nice fried cold egg sandwich? McCabe: Didn't I turn that down yesterday? Hilda: Yeah, but it gets better with age. McCabe: Ah, just a donut. Hilda: Last of the big spenders.

    • (at the sniper shooting scene) Lt. Harrelson: OK, here's where we stand. The man's name is Nick Lacey. He lost his job this afternoon; that probably was his last straw. He's been in and out of institutions for eight years, two previous arrests on child beating charges reported by his wife, and then six years ago he killed two people in a fit of rage. Last year the shrinks decided he was squared away so they cut him loose. So far this afternoon, he's killed one and wounded one. So that means we go in hard, fast and everybody goes home safely. Understood? (team nods)

    • Street: OK. OK, so I tried to take the man (sniper) on my own. But that was my choice. Lt. Harrelson: It was not, repeat not, your choice and you almost got yourself blown away for your trouble. Street: That's right. I almost got myself blown away, but I made the choice. Lt. Harrelson: You don't have that right on this team, Officer Street. Street: Now, Lieutenant, that's a right that nobody can ever take away from me. I can see, I can think and I can feel. Now today, I saw that boy and I thought about him losing his father, and I didn't want that to happen. Lt. Harrelson: Nobody wants that to happen, any time. Street: Well I tried to do something about it. Lt. Harrelson: Did you? Did you really? Maybe the exercise of your free will put this whole team in jeopardy. Think about the fact that a team effort might have brought that kid's father out of there completely unharmed. Tactics, discipline, control, that's the way we save lives, there's no other way. We're a team. You're either part of it, or you're not. Street: Is that an ultimatum? Lt. Harrelson: It's a fact of life. Street: OK, Lieutenant, I'll try it your way. But that's never gonna keep me from asking questions. Lt. Harrelson: I wouldn't have it any other way. But save the questions until the action's over.

    • (to Timmy Lacey father his father was shot by S.W.A.T.) Lt. Harrelson: Timmy, you know I have a boy about your age. And you know what he does when things get down on him? He takes a deep breath, tries to think of the ten best things that ever happened to him. I want you to try that. Go ahead. (Timmy nods)

    • (finding Street alone in the office) Kay: Are you bucking for overtime or something? Don't you have a place to go to? Street: Nah, I was just sitting here thinking about that kid. Kay: Yeah, I've been thinking about him too. It's a bad trip that kid being in a sheltered home. His dad's going to be OK. But I'm afraid after they've tested him he won't be seeing daylight for long time. Street: Yeah. You know, in a way it means they'll be throwing away the key on Timmy too, and that kid has not done anything wrong, Deke. There's gotta be something we can do about it. Kay: Well, if I know Hondo, he's trying to think of something too.
