  • show Description
  • High school drama meets giant robot battles in this new Cartoon Network offering from the creator of Dexter's Laboratory and Samurai Jack. Sym-Bionic Titan follows the lives of Ilana, Lance, and Octus, the three aliens that crash-landed on Earth while attempting to escape the evil General Modula who has taken over their home planet, Galaluna. Ilana, princess of Galaluna, Lance, a rebellious but capable soldier, and Octus, a bio-cybernetic robot, must now blend into everyday life in Sherman, Illinois. Posing as high school students, Lance and Octus work to conceal Princess Ilana from General Modula and his hideous space mutants called the Mutraddi sent to harm the sole royal heir of Galaluna. This motley trio makes a real effort to navigate high school life, all while saving the planet and themselves from an onslaught of intergalactic attacks. In their everyday forms, Ilana and Lance act as brother and sister, while Octus portrays dual roles of father at home and their friend Newton at school. When called into battle, the Galalunians are outfitted with individual armor that provides more than ample protection. It's when the gravest of danger appears that Octus activates the sym-bionic defense program and Ilana, Lance and Octus come together to form the spectacular cyber-giant Sym-Bionic Titan. It is in this form that they battle the most evil of beasts.moreless

  • Quotes (2)

    • Mike Chan: (to Lance) Dang, bro, Big Mama giving little baby driving lessons? Driving Instructor: Who you callin' big, you spike haired, toy-driving punk? Get your car outta here before I smack that cheap paint job right off!

    • (Octus/Newton accidentally bumps into Kimmy, making coffee fall on her) Kimmy: Ugh, you idiot! Look what you've done! Octus: I'm terribly sorry I-I... (tries to help, but Kimmy slaps his hand away) Kimmy: Why don't you watch where you're going? DORK! (walks away) Octus: Hey... I said I was sorry Ilana: It's not you, it's her.

    Notes (16)

    • It is confirmed that the name of Lance's father is Edward and that he was childhood friends with both the King and General Modula.

    • This is the first time Octus doesn't appear and that Sym-Bionic Titan wasn't seen, because the entire episode is a flashback that revolves around Lance's childhood life.

    • The names that the Mutraddi infant alien received are Mushy (originally named by Ilana), Tarax (named after the greatest Galalunian general as stated by Lance) and 497 (when found in his creature category by Octus). After our heroes discover the new cosmic formation it left after its death, they combine the three separate names into one; Tashy 497.

    • Throughout this entire episode, Octus didn't speak with his robotic voice while talking with his human voice.

    • This episode shows that Lance and Ilana might like each as boyfriend and girlfriend.

    • Muculox is the third Mutraddi creature that can talk. The first one was Xeexi from "The Phantom Ninja" and second being the Dark Shaman from "Shaman of Fear".

    • This is the second time that Sym-Bionic Titan wasn't formed.

    • The high school students were making references about the events that occurred from the previous episode, Showdown at Sherman High.

    Trivia (25)

    • We find out that Lance is a Corporal.

    • The tradition of Ilana wearing a different outfit in each episode begins here.

    • The shops in the mall have rather odd names. Some of the weirder ones are "Chess Nerd," "Soft Things," "Ugly Baby" and "Jerk Store."

    • This is the episode where the Titan officially receives its name. Ilana gets the idea from hearing the humans call it that.

    • General Steel's first name is revealed to be "Julius."

    • When Ilana first sees Newton standing in the school hall, there's a banner below the window on his right that reads "Sherman Days." When it appears again, it reads "Shermer Days."

    • This is the second time Lance has attracted a Mutraddi beast by activating his armor when he shouldn't have.

    • The monster the heroes fight in this episode is the first non-giant alien sent to Earth. It also has humanlike intelligence, the ability to speak, and a name (Xeexi).

    • The commercial for the fictional teen drama "High School Heights" that Octus plays for Ilana and Lance plays on a fictional channel called the WC. It spoofs the real TV channel, The CW and its content. Plus, in reality WC stands for "water closet", an obscure term for a flush toilet.

    • The store where Ilana, Lance and Octus attempt to make peaceful contact with a human is called Floor Mart, a parody of the real multinational retailer called Wal-Mart.

    • Solomon shares a similar appearance to Alucard from the manga/anime, Hellsing.

    • Star Blazers Solomon's 'Wave Motion' gun resembles the primary weapon of the battleship Argo from the series Star Blazers.

    • The gang leader who was at the Sherman National Bank strongly resembles Hans Gruber from the 1988 American action film, Die Hard.

    • The Mutraddi creature in this episode resembles to the monster from the movie, Cloverfield.
