  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (2)

    • Billy Drake: Well I'll be a snake on Sunday. Pop in here for a shake and who do I run into ? The Iceman. How you doing?

    • [Opening wraparound segment with the Crypt Keeper re-hearse-ing for his theatre's groups version of A Streetcar Named Desire.]
The Crypt Keeper: Stella...Stella!! Oh, hello plague-goers! I was just re-hearse-ing with my little theatre group. I just love the slime light! For tonight's dreary drama, I thought we'd try an experimental piece, about a retired drag racer who's afraid of getting to the finish line a little sooner than he wants. I call this nasty nugget, "King of the Road". [Closing wraparound segment.]
The Crypt Keeper: Well, that certainly gives new meaning to the term "burn rubber." [laughs] As for me, I've got to back to work. The group has decided to do something classical. We're trying to choose between A Midsummer Night's Scream and Ghoulius Caeser. [laughs] Care to watch from hackstage? [laughs] You know what they say, kiddies: the slay's the thing. [laughs]

    Notes (4)

    • This episode is based on an original script and is not based on any particular EC comic story.

    • Director Connection: Tom Holland also directed the episodes, "Four-Sided Triangle" and "Lover Come Hack To Me".

    • Music: Composed by Warren Zevon.

    • This episode doesn't really follow the Tales From The Crypt formula because it was originally filmed as part of a three segment Fox pilot for Two-Fisted Tales. Fox didn't pick the series up, so this, "Yellow" and "Showdown", the other segments, were repackaged as Tales from the Crypt episodes, with Crypt Keeper wraparounds added.

    Trivia (2)

    • Crypt Keeper Wardrobe: In the opening wraparound segment, the Crypt Keeper is dressed in a ripped shirt and is re-hearse-ing for his theatre's groups version of A Streetcar Named Desire. In the closing wraparound segment, the Crypt Keeper is dressed as a Shakespearean actor and reading a copy of Hamlet.

    • Jack Kehler is credited as Jack Keeler.

    Allusions (1)

    • A Streetcar Named Desire Popular 1947 play by Tennessee Williams turned into a very successful 1951 film starring screen legend, Marlon Brando. The film is notable for it's many quotes including the famous, Stanley Kowalski quote, "Stella!...Stella"! In this episode, during the opening wraparound segment, the Crypt Keeper is dressed in a ripped shirt and is re-hearse-ing for his theatre's groups version of A Streetcar Named Desire, quoting the famous line, "Stella!...Stella"!
