  • Don't let the classification fool you. Although we're still being introduced to new characters and figuring out everyone's personality, this is one of the best episodes.

    • Splinter: Then perhaps you are ready to answer some questions. April: You're... you're a rat. (faints) Donatello: You sure have a way with the ladies, Master Splinter. Now, what do we do? Leonardo: Let's nudge her. Raphael: I'll snap her out of it. Splinter: Raphael, no! Michelangelo: Somebody get me when she wakes up.

    • Raph: What now? April: Get me into the control room and I'll create blind spots into the security cameras allowing you guys to sneak around unnoticed. Raph: (points to Mikey) Don't look now but we already got a blind spot right here. Mikey: Hey.

    • Raphael: First rule: Ignore Mikey. Your life would be easier.

    • Michelangelo: (to Leonardo) I just love those action movie lines. You write them yourself?

    • Raphael: Hey. Hey, Earth to Mikey. Michelangelo: Ow! What?! Raphael: She woke up. Leo made her some tea and she's ready to consider we might be real. Michelangelo: Awesomely radical, dude! Raphael: You keep talking like that, she's gonna pass out again. Michelangelo: Hey!

    Notes (2)

    • This episode was adapted as issue 3 of the short-lived Dreamwave TMNT comic series. During the laser fight scene the comic writers added the lines "Does he expect us to talk?" "No, Mr Bond, he expects us to die", hence giving reference to the 1964 film Goldfinger.

    • The line "Can we keep her?" was originally from the first live-action Ninja Turtles movie.

    Trivia (5)

    • Villains: Oroku Saki, Baxter Stockman, Hun, Mousers

    • Prologue Narrator: Michelangelo

    • The thermal camera images Stockman and Saki see imply that the Turtles are endothermic (warm-blooded), like humans, rather than ectothermic (cold-blooded) like modern reptiles (including turtles).

    • Michelangelo says "Can we keep her?" with Donny's voice.

    • In the flashback, when pre-mutated Splinter rolls the coffee it's label doesn't roll with it.

    Allusions (2)

    • Daredevil The origin story for the ninja turtles where a kid saves a blind man from being run over by a truck with radioactive material, only for some of the waste to fall out and onto somebody which alters them is similar to the origin story of the Marvel superhero Daredevil, who was rendered permanently blind, but had his other four senses of touch, taste, smell, and hearing enhanced to superhuman levels by the waste and he was also trained as a ninja.

    • from Rurouni Kenshin: "Learning from Watching" from the Analysis above
Kenshin Himura of Nabuhiro Watsuki's Rurouni Kenshin anime and manga series (known as Samurai X in the Western part of the globe) learned most of his major attacks just by watching his master actually do it to him (that's why he is almost always battered whenever he attends lessons). As proof, Master Hiko Seijuro gave the Amakakeryu no Hirameki blow from the Hiten-Mitsurugi Ryu technique to Kenshin without the "attack's blueprint" first. It is possible to learn something without hearing the procedures 1-10 explanation.
