  • With Splinter mysteriously vanished last episode, the Turtles are feeling frustrated, not knowing where to start looking for him. Impatient with strategizing, Raph heads off on his own, and runs into a solo adventure involving a kid pursued by mobsters. Initially butting heads, Raph and the kid hammer out a trusting relationship just in time to rescue the kid's mother.

  • Quotes (2)

    • Raphael: Man is this gonna be a long night. Two major problems: the first, is these guys, your basic criminal-type thugs, which normally wouldn't be a problem at all. Except for the second problem... Some old guy once said, "Anybody who hates kids and dogs can't be all bad." Like I said, it's gonna be a long night.

    • Mob: Well, if it ain't mister blind, green and ugly! Raph: You got some nerve talking about ugly, pal, wearing a tie like that. Mob: What? You can SEE? Raph: I can see. Although looking at you I'm already kinda missing the blind thing.

    Notes (5)

    • Villains: The Mob

    • Prologue Narrator: Raphael

    • The mob's leader mentioned that there was to be a gang war, foreshadowing the episodes City at War.

    • On the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles DVD "Search for Splinter" Peter Laird gives an interview in which he states for the record that the idea for this episode, and title, came about from being a fan of the "Lone Wolf and Cub" manga.

    • During Tyler's flashback, the movie he identifies as his "favorite of all time" actually IS "Lone Wolf and Cub."

    Trivia (2)

    • Episode centers around Raph.

    • The reporter had captured some gangs on film which was going to shut them down. In the original series, this is what April O'Neil did, and a gang came after her too.

    Allusions (3)

    • The Mafia It is obvious that "The Mob" is really the Mafia, an Italian-American crime syndicate that deals with underground crime (ex. smuggling, protection, murder, drug trafficking) in urban areas.

    • Lone Wolf and Cub This title and story is clearly a parody of the classic Japanese silent comic book series Lone Wolf and Cub which focused on the adventures of a warrior fending off threats to a child he has sworn to protect.

    • W.C. Fields Raphael: An old guy once said that anyone who hates dogs and kids can't be all bad... The old guy who said that was the golden-age screen comedian W.C. Fields. (Is Raphael a fan of old B&W movies?)
