  • Episode Description
  • After the frustrated Turtles exhaust their search for Splinter, their suspicions turn to the Guardians, and the trail soon leads them to a non-descript building, the initials of its company name spelling out "TCRI" — the same letters stamped onto the canister of ooze responsible for their mutation. Now with two reasons to infiltrate that building, the Turtles recruit both April and Casey to help get them inside.

  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (8)

    • Leonardo: The roar of the crowds, the smell of the greasepaint, the death defying thrill of the high-wire. Trust me, this is no circus, and if you think it's tough for a turtle to walk a tightrope, try four. If we fall, we're pavement paint; but if we make it, we just may finally find our missing Master Splinter. We also might learn the answer to a secret that's plagued us our entire lives: How and why we became Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?

    • Mikey: I don't know what disturbs me more. That this actually worked or that Don carries around a pigeon puppet.

    • Leo: (through Microphone) Remember Casey, just distract him long enough for April to slip in and slip out. Raph: (through mircophone) Yeah. Don't screw this up, bonehead. Casey: (into microphone) Hey, if anyone's gonna screw this up, it's gonna be you, freakface! (He turns around and sees everyone staring at him.) Raph: (through microphone) Moron.

    • April: (pertaining to Casey) My life is in the hands of a lunatic.

    • Don: (to Leo, Raph, Mikey and April who are crowding beside him) You, guys, are sucking the oxygen right out of my personal space here. (The three Turtles and April get out of the way and just seconds later, they go back crowding Don again.)

    Notes (3)

    • Prologue Narrator: Leonardo

    • This two-part episode is based on Volume 1 Issue 4 of the Mirage comics.

    • "TCRI" stands for "Technical Cosmic Research Institute." as it does in the original comics. It is different from "TGRI: Technical Global Research Institute" that was used in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze.

    Trivia (3)

    • When the Turtles are crossing the tightrope after April and Casey got into the TCRI building, Leonardo is leading the walk at the beginning. However, when the Turtles get off the rope, Donatello is in front. Since there is no way the Turtles could have switched positions while up several stories in the air, this is definitely an animation frame mistake.

    • Donatello isn't holding the pigeon puppet close enough to the camera, as it's not occupying the camera's entire field of vision. The TCRI security guard should have been able to see Leonardo placing the background photograph behind the pigeon.

    • In the beginning April is wearing a yellow shirt, later on she is wearing the same clothes from "Tales of Leo".

    Allusions (2)

    • Patrick Henry Casey: Gimme a toaster or give me death! This line makes a reference to the famous phrase "Give me Liberty or give me death," first uttered by Patrick Henry, as well as many different variations of the phrase.

    • TCRI: Technical Cosmic Research Institute This came from the original comics. Instead of using the original term in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze to avoid an alien approach to the mutagen, the writers chose, once again, to stick to original comic settings.
