  • Quotes (9)

    • Hyde: So you caught those birds with just a whistle and a stick? Very impressive, Fez. Kelso: Yeah, you know, that’s a good way to hunt. ‘Cause even if you don’t get anything, you still have all the fun of a whistle and a stick.

    • Eric: So where’s Fez? Bob: Kelso probably shot him. Red: Oh, I saw him walking into the woods right after we got here. Said he was going hunting. He had a, a whistle and a stick! (He laughs) Bob: Ah, crazy foreign bastard. Fez (walking up to them carrying two dead birds): Let's eat.

    • Kelso: Think we’ll see any bears? I’d love to kill a bear. Red: You can’t shoot a bear. It’s deer season! You shoot a bear, you get fined, you go to jail. Kelso: No. I’ll just say it was self-defense. Who’s the jury gonna believe? Me, or a dead bear? All: Dead bear.

    • (driving to the hunting grounds) Kelso: Hey, Red. Don’t freak out, but if I see a deer on the side of the road, I’m gonna shoot him! Red: Kelso, you fire that gun in this car, and I will pull over and kick your ass for an hour!

    • Hyde: Yeah, we all like Midge. Kelso: Yeah, Midge has nice jugs. Bob: What? Kelso: What? Bob: No, you said something. Kelso: (nervously) No I didn't. So what's up with your hair?

    Trivia (4)

    • Red: Well, it was a long time ago. I was out hunting with Frank. He was a good friend of mine. A good guy. Kind of a dumb-ass, like Kelso here. So anyway, Frank shot this deer, and he was real happy. And he'd had a few beers, so he was dancing around, and it was all real fun. And then he leans over to kiss the deer, only the deer's not dead yet and it kicks him right in the neck... and it killed him. Frank is seen once in the series, in the second season episode Halloween; he was the first person that Red ever called a dumb-ass.

    • Hyde: You know, [Red]'s never really warmed up to you. Eric: Going on 17 years now. Eric either thinks that Red was nice to him as a baby, or else he's forgotten how old he is, as he says "going on 17 years," yet he's more than 17 years old. Eric turned 17 in the second episode, Eric's Birthday. Since that was a season and a half back, he should be saying "going on 18 years now."

    • The music used in this episode was: I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing (1971) by The Hillside Singers; Shotgun (1965) by Jr. Walker & The All Stars.

    • Eric: How about let's do this when you don't have a gun? Red: How about you do what the guy with the gun tells you? The problem with this scene is that Eric has the gun. Response: Actually, both of them have guns.

    Allusions (3)

    • Red: I just thought that if you touched [the dead rabbit], you wouldn't be afraid of it. Eric: Well, thank you, Dr. Spock! Eric is referring to Dr. Benjamin Spock (1903 - 1998), the noted pediatrician who wrote Baby and Child Care in 1946 and used psychoanalysis to understand children's needs and how parents should care for them.

    • Eric: Don't you remember my Taxi Driver phase? Eric is referring to the Martin Scorsese film of that name that was released in 1976.

    • Red: Look at this. First day of deer season. Eric: Rabbit season. Hyde: Duck season. Eric: Wabbit season! Eric and Hyde are making reference to many cartoons from The Bugs Bunny Show (repackaged under various names) in which Daffy Duck (Eric) and Bugs Bunny (Hyde) argue over which hunting season it is.
