    • Bus Driver Stu Benedict: Don't make my mistake! Get good traction! Don't let love slip away! When love comes, you better pull over the side of the road and open your door, 'cuz nothing in this world matters more...

    • Little Pete: (to Bus Driver Stu) Take the cash, crank-bait!

    • Mr. Markle: Destiny may know where you live, my squids, but will you be home when it comes over to play?

    • Big Pete: None of us took Mr. Markle too seriously. I mean, he was a nimrod, but he was always kind of a harmless nimrod.

    • Big Pete: Maybe Ellen and I were like a couple of hydrogen atoms destined to combine into a helium isotope. But, I guess I just wasn't ready. If I had been, maybe this whole disaster wouldn't have happened.

    Notes (1)

    • As revealed in the commentary in the Rewind Collection, the instrument being played by Artie near the end of the episode was his own construction, made on the set.

    Trivia (5)

    • This episode's plot is very similar to that of the short "The Dot".

    • Artie's affinity for funk music is introduced in this episode. It's mentioned again in "Nightcrawlers," as he pumps bass-heavy music through his KrebStar radio to keep Pete alert.

    • Approximately 8:49 into the episode, you can see a red line running across the top of the screen, showing that Nickelodeon hasn't done a very good job cleaning up the footage for its DVD release.

    • This is the first time for Big Pete to kiss Ellen in the series.

    • When Big Pete and Ellen meet each other in the middle of the formation, to kiss, you can see the camera crew in Big Pete's highly polished helmet.

    Allusions (2)

    • Dotting the 'i' The tradition and lore surrounding the dotting of the 'i' in "Squids" by the Wellsville band is quite similar to that of the Ohio State University Marching Band's i-dotting in their famous "Script Ohio" performance.

    • Little Pete: Love, is a many-splendored thing This is the name of a classic song performed by people and bands such as The Four Lads and Frank Sinatra.
