  • Agent Gaad mentions that this was the closest they had got to a KGB agent on American soil since they got Rudolph Abel in 1957.  'Rudolph Abel' was an alias used by a KGB agent named Vilyam Genrikhovich Fisher, who was found guilty of spying in the USA in 1957 and sentenced to 45 years imprisonment.  He was exchanged for US U-2 pilot Gary Powers four years later.

  • Elizabeth's crossword clue is "Who was John Anderson's running mate?", the answer being Patrick Lucey.  John Anderson and Patrick Lucey ran as independent candidates for President and Vice President, respectively, in the 1980 US General Election.
