  • show Description
  • The Brak Show is about the daily adventures of Brak and his best buddy Zorak, prior to meeting Space Ghost. Brak lives with his family in a lovely suburb somewhere in space. Brak gets advice from Mom (a nice lady who keeps a clean house) & Dad (a human with a Latin accent that is rather short due to a shrink-ray accident), and gets corrupted by Zorak. Brak is an honest and somewhat dumb kid and Zorak is a foul-mouthed, destruction-loving mantis. Brak's brother Sisto is also around from time to time. Their neighbor is Thundercleese, a giant robot with massive armaments, who likes maintaining his lawn. The Brak Show is a spin-off of Cartoon Planet, which was a spin-off of Space Ghost: Coast To Coast. Confused yet? It is an original series for Cartoon Network's programming block Adult Swim. The Brak show is written and produced by Jim Fortier and Pete Smith and is produced in Cartoon Network Studios. Both Fortier and Smith were writer/producers on Cartoon Network's hit, Space Ghost: Coast to Coast and later worked on the short-lived variety show, Brak Presents the Brak Show Starring Brak. • [singing a sad, slow song in the same melody as before] Brak: I wish I had my friendship ointment 'Cause it feels like I've been stung by fifty bees But even if I had it I wouldn't know where to rub it 'Cause I have a hole in my heart in the shape of Mr. Bawk-Ba-Gawk!

    • [singing an up-tempo song] Brak: Friendship Is like an ointment For when you've been stung by fifty bees It always feels better No matter where you rub it, Because it is a topical analgesic!

    • Brak: Hello, Mr. Thundercleese! Thundercleese: Are you here to destroy my lawn?! Brak: I beg your pardon, we would never do that! Would we, Zorak? Zorak: (jackhammering Thundercleese's lawn) WHAT'S THAT? CAN'T HEAR YA!

    • Zorak: I need meat! Mother (To Zorak): Oh, I'll give you meat, Arthur!

    Trivia (16)

    • Brak's father was never originally intended to be so short. An error was made when compositing a scene and Dad's file was made too small in comparison to everything else. but, it was such a hilarious mistake that they left him they way he was.

    • Thundercleese owns a toilet in his fortress. This is unnecessary, for Thundercleese is a robot who neither eats nor drinks. Thundercleese also lives alone, so the toilet belongs to him and nobody else.

    • Goof: After the first Cloneborg leaves the kitchen, the floor is empty. When Brak and Zorak enter the kitchen, there is now oil on the floor. Afterwards, the oil disappears, without a trace.

    • Thundercleese's Robotic Hymn of Doom played in reverse is: Why are you listening to this song backwards? You could have been on a date with a girl.

    • Opening Title: B.J. and the Brak This episode title parodies the comedy/adventure television series B.J. and the Bear which aired on NBC from 1979-1981 starring Greg Evigan as B.J. as a truck driver traveling the nation's highways with his pet chimp Bear.

    • Opening Title: Leave it to Brak
This title parodies the sitcom Leave It To Beaver which aired from 1957 to 1963 first on CBS then ABC. Starring Jerry Mathers as Beaver the show shot around the adventures with him and the characters around him. Known for being a tribute to white-picketfence America the show was very innocent and always aimed toward a moral lesson, very unlike The Brak Show,

    • Opening Title: Diff'rent Braks This title parodies another old show, from 1978, called Diff'rent Strokes.

    • The Yeah Buddy song that the 2 Braks start singing sounds an awful lot like the Bee Gees' hit Stayin' Alive.

    • Dad: Life is not about the second chances. It's about a little mouse, and his voyage to an exciting new land. That, my friend, is what life is.
He is referring to the movie, "An American Tail," in which a mouse named Feivel searches for his family, which he loses in a shipwreck on the way there.

    • Zorak: When Zorak has a vision of Granny Prison, the number on his prison suit is 655321.
This is a reference to the movie A Clockwork Orange; 655321 is the number assigned to the main character when he is arrested and sent to prison for murder.

    • Opening Title: Gimme A Brak! This title parodies another sitcom, from 1981, called Gimme a Break!.

    • Brak metions a singer call 'Notorious Fluffy G' this is a spoof on the rap artist The Notorious B.I.G.

  • A pretty funny show.

  • Years before they became deadly foes of the great Space Ghost, the quasi-cat creature, Brak, and his best mantis buddy, Zorak, were just normal kids like you and me…except for all the explosions, intergalactic visitors, and foiled follies over the existence of all mankind. They made lots of rude bodily noises, though, and that's kind of normal…kind of…except maybe that oozing mantis funk, but why quibble? Hey, it's The Brak Show
