  • Episode Description
  • Provenza recruits Flynn and Buzz to earn some "easy money" by serving papers for a lawyer who called him. Immediately after serving the man, who insists he's not the person they are looking for, he plummets to his death and lands on Buzz's car. When Fritz arrives on the scene, he informs everyone that the dead man was convicted of massive fraud and was awaiting sentencing. Suspicion soon falls on the dead man's wife, who had discovered that in addition to his criminal behavior, he was having an affair.moreless

    • Brenda: When Captain Raydor conducted a transparency audit on this entire Division, you thought it was a brilliant idea to use one of our civilian techs to track a private citizen without a warrant?
Provenza: Well, I wouldn't say brilliant.
Brenda: (Fritz hands her a picture of Provenza with Hirschbaum) You posed with him?
Provenza: Well, we had to have proof of service.
Fritz: Oh, the video is a whole lot better.
      Brenda: You made a video?
Flynn: Well, Buzz was already there.

    • Tao: (at the murder scene) Who's going to call the Chief?
Provenza: Nobody's going to call the Chief. She does not need to know about this.
Fritz: I'm not so sure about that.
      Flynn: (covering his face) Oh.
Fritz: Can someone please explain how Steven Hirschbaum, a guy convicted in a massive federal fraud trial, ends up dead on Buzz's car five days before his sentencing?

    • Fritz: The agency has a policy against knowingly making false statements.
Brenda: The agency can just say no comment.
Fritz: Yeah, and who is going to look like an idiot when the truth comes out?
Taylor: Chief. Agent Howard. I'm off to brief the press on the Hirschbaum murder. Anything I should know?
      Brenda: Just be yourself, Commander.
      Taylor: Right. (walks away)
Fritz: I can live with that.

    • Provenza: How'd you like to make a quick 2,000 bucks, cash?
Flynn: No, thanks. Anything that begins with you whispering always ends with other people shouting.

    • Flynn: How is a job that's supposed to net us four grand end up costing us four grand? What do you call that, uh, Provenza-nomics?

    • Gabriel: Now see, that makes sense to me. Hirschbaum's a guy with a ton of cash looking at life in prison, so he kills his double and then he just goes off to live in some tropical paradise, just like Ken Lay.

Kenneth Lee Lay (1942–2006) was the CEO and chairman of Enron and was implicated in the downfall of the Corporation. He was found guilty on May 25, 2006, along with COO Jeffrey Skilling, on six counts of securities and wire fraud and faced up to 45 years in prison. He died of a heart attack in July, prior to sentencing. Because of the private funeral and cremation four days later, along with his ashes being buried in a secret location in the Colorado mountains and his connection to very powerful people, conspiracy theories abound that the death was a cover for his leaving America to live in luxury in some place with a warn climate.
