  • Quotes (4)

    • Vanessa: May I please just have my punishment now? Clair: Vanessa, please. Your father and I have been through much too much this evening to be sitting up here thinking of a punishment for you right now. Vanessa: But I'd like my punishment before I go to bed. (Clair lunges at Vanessa, but Cliff holds her back) Cliff: Do yourself a favor and go to bed.

    • Rudy: Oh, look! There's Frankie X on the TV right now! He's from the Wretched. News Reporter: (On the TV): In other entertainment news, lead singer Frankie X said in a news conference that he wanted to thank the citizens of Baltimore for letting the Wretched play there tonight... Clair: Did he say that the Wretched are in Baltimore tonight? Cliff: That's what he said. (Both and Denise react in shock) Rudy:(Reacts in awe) Vanessa went all the way to Baltimore. WOW!!!

    • Vanessa: Mom, I said I was sorry. This is not going to happen again! Clair: For all I know, you are lying right now, GO TO BED!!!

    • Clair: We think you're lying in the floor of some burning building, dying of asphyxia, and you're down in Baltimore, having BIG FUN! Weren't you, Vanessa? Isn't that where you were? Didn't you go down there to Baltimore to have big fun, Vanessa? Tell me, didn't you go for big fun? Vanessa: Mom.... Clair: SHUT UP!!! Don't you dare open your mouth when I'm asking you a question! RUDY, GO TO BED!

    Notes (5)

    • Last appearances by Pam Potillo as Janet and Elizabeth Narvaez as Kara.

    • The jersey that Cliff wore was that of Ramon Ramos, a Portland Trailblazer who was severely injured in a car accident in December 1989 after returning from a road game.

    • This episode marks Malcolm-Jamal Warner's directoral debut.

    • Cliff wears a Portland Trail Blazers jersey throughout this episode. For several years (back when this episode aired), a giant photograph of Bill Cosby hung just inside the main entrance to the Portland Memorial Coliseum, which was then the Blazers' home arena.

    • Tempestt Bledsoe said that this was one of her favorite episodes. She also said that the scene where Clair yells at her, made her realize what it means to be an actor.

    Trivia (4)

    • One thing that should have definitely tipped the Huxtables off: most rock concerts start at around 8pm. Baltimore is about a five-hour drive from New York City, which means that the girls are all dressed up for the concert at Vanessa's house at around 2 or 3 in the afternoon. That would seen funny to me, if they say they are going to a concert in New York that night.

    • Before Cliff and Clair go to Susan's house to snatch Vanessa, Cliff does a standing broad jump to find out how far away he should stay from Vanessa to avoid killing her. But, of course, they are closer together than that when they are in the car coming back home!

    • The group "The Wretched" obviously sounds like a group that would fall into a cross between heavy metal and punk. Given Vanessa and her friends' past experiences with their musical tastes (see "How Do You Get To Carnegie Hall?"), they don't strike me as the types that would go in for listening to music by a group called "The Wretched."

    • Kara speaks normally in this episode. In other episodes, she speaks very rapidly. Since when does Kara speak normally?

    Allusions (2)

    • The episode's title is an allusion to the song "We're Off to See the Wizard" from the 1939 movie ''The Wizard of Oz''.

    • This episode is a variation of the 1933 Laurel & Hardy movie, Sons of The Desert.

I'm glad this episode was written the way it was. If you're thinking of going cross country to see Justin Bieber, girls, think again!
