  • Episode Description
  • Pam Tucker, Clair's 17-year-old second cousin, comes to live with the Huxtables after her mother flies to California to care for Pam's sick grandmother. Her boyfriend invites her to a party in the Bronx, but Rudy informs her that the kids are not allowed to stay out after ten o'clock on weeknights. Slide goads Pam into asking Cliff for permission to let Slide borrow his car, but Cliff turns her down. Slide comes to visit Pam with their friends Lance and Charmaine. Pam is very nervous about their presence; she warns them not to touch anything, and won't give them any food or drink. Pam's friends convince her to sneak out while the Huxtables are away, but Cliff and Clair return just as they are on their way out the door. She admits that she was going to the party. Cliff and Clair refuse to bend the rules and let her go out; but ask her friends to stay, and treat them very well. They encourage Pam to relax and think of the Huxtable house as her own home.moreless

  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (3)

    • Cliff: Let me explain how I feel about lending my car to my children's friends--I don't!

    • Slide: Excuse me, Ms. Huxtable. It wasn't Pam's fault. She didn't even want to go. I talked her into it. Cliff: Well then you must not be too much of a friend. Slide: Yeah. I care for her a lot. Cliff: Well, I don't think so. Because people you care for, you look after them. Pam: Dr. Huxtable, it's not all on Slide. I have a mind of my own. Clair: Then you better start using it!

    • Pam: The truth is, I was going to break curfew and take my punishment. Clair: Come here...and just how do you know what that punishment is? Cliff: Did Rudy tell you about that machine in the basement?

    Notes (3)

    • Pam's actual relation to the Huxtables was never explained on the show, although it reportedly came up in some news articles.

    • Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Karen Malina White would later co-star together in the UPN sitcom Malcolm & Eddie. Warner and Allen Payne would later co-star together in the 1995 TV-movie "The Tuskegee Airmen."

    • Sabrina LeBeauf, Geoffrey Owens, Joseph C. Phillips, Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Tempestt Bledsoe do not appear in this episode.

    Trivia (3)

    • After Pam is introduced to the girls, Clair leaves Pam alone in the living room. She later returns with three glasses of apple juice. How did Clair know that Cliff had entered the room while she was gone?

    • When Pam is in the office talking to Cliff and he tells her about the curfew time, she has a pencil in her hand and a pad in her lap. In the next shot, Cliff offers her a pencil and tells her to take the pad (which is on his desk). Why would she need does she take the pad and pencil when she was supposed to already have them?

    • When Pam is about to arrive and move in with Vanessa, Rudy complains that she's never going to get her own room. This doesn't make any sense; Vanessa moved into Denise's room in the episode Food for Thought, and Olivia didn't move in until the episode Denise: The Saga Continues when Denise returned home from Africa. This means that with Sondra and Denise either away at school or living with their husbands and Vanessa living in their old room, Rudy has had her own room for over three years! What does she have to complain about?

    Allusions (1)

    • Cliff: (to Olivia who is running through the living room) Slow down, Wilma Rudolph! In Rome, on September 7th, 1960, Wilma Rudolph was the first American woman to win three gold medals in one Olympics: the 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash, and ran the anchor on the 400-meter relay team.
