  • show Description
  • The Game stars Tia Mowry as Melanie Barnett, a young, intelligent medical student, who is also the girlfriend of an eager rookie football player, Derwin Davis (Pooch Hall). Melanie decides to pass on her chance at attending Johns Hopkins Medical School to be with Derwin after he is recently chosen to play for the San Diego Sabres as the new third-string wide receiver. As Melanie tries to adjust to her new lifestyle, she meets Tasha Mack (Wendy Raquel Robinson), single mother and manager of Malik Wright (Hosea Chanzes) who is a charming star quarterback for the San Diego Sabres and Kelly Pitts (Brittany Daniel), the satisfying wife of Jason Pitts (Coby Bell) who is a thrifty star player for the San Diego Sabres. With the help of Tasha and Kelly, Melanie learns how the game is played amongst the women behind the athletes. The Game originally aired on the CW before BET Networks picked it up in 2010.moreless

    • Tasha: Now I ain't sayin' she a gold digger, but she ain't messin' wit no broke...receivers.

    • Kelly: Check the mini bar, if the champagne is missing we're in trouble, it's a stripper's energy drink.

    • Tasha: Melanie called me this morning and the poor girl's terrified you're trying to steal Derwin away from her. I don't have time to be listening to that crap so stop messing with her head. Are we clear? Dionne: Excuse me, you think I'm one of those scary little SunBeams who's afraid of you. Melanie's head is not my problem. I manage images, not insecurities. Tasha: Girl, I like you!

    • Melanie: You don't want me to go do you? Afraid you won't have any fun with the away game hoochies? Derwin: Hoochies? Hoochies? Melanie: Oh so now you're acting like hoochies don't exist in football? Derwin: Oh, hoochies! Okay it's like this: you can't go. The guys don't want wives and girlfriends at the away games and I can't be the only guy who brings his girl. Melanie: It's okay Derwin I get it. Derwin: But if I see a hoochie I'm gonna run the other way!

    • Dionne: Good night Melanie and you take care. Melanie: Good night Dionne and you ... buckle up ... it's the law.

    • Tasha(to Kelly): Well at least he has a mama who cares. Not like that poor child you let walk around with a tore up afro because you know less than nothing about black hair! Kelly: It sure doesn't look like you know a whole hell of a lot about black hair either, considering most of your hair came from Korea!

    • Melanie: I'm not pregnant! Malik: No child support, dog!

    • Kelly (to Melanie): Black women are always complaining about finding a good, black man. You have one. Lock him down before one of mine gets to him.
