  • Trivia & Quotes
  • Quotes (8)

    • Dorothy: He was trapped in a bad marriage. Sophia: There is no such thing as trapped in a marraige. Here you can get divorced, in Sicily there was no divorce, you had to resort to Lupara. Rose: Is that some kind of legal loophole? Sophia: It's some kind of sawed off shotgun.

    • Dorothy: I was in a room with you once before when your wife called, and you told her you were alone...then you were cheating on her. Glen: Yeah, with you. Dorothy: But I've also been Nancy, and I've had my husband call me, and he was alone too.

    • Glen: Our entire block was Irish, the kids on the next block were all Italian. We all took turns beating each other up on the way home from school.

    • Rose: I had the strangest dream last night, I was at a baseball game, Charlie Brown was pitching, Shroeder was behind the plate, Lucy and Snoopy were in center field, and they wouldn't let me play. When I woke up I was crying, what do you think it is? Dorothy: Peanuts envy?

    • Rose: It's the oldest confidence game in the world, the pigeon drop. Sophia: It wasn't his idea, the nun suggested it. Rose: She was in on it too, that's why it's called a confidence game. They have to win your confidence so you'll hand over your money and get stuck with worthless paper. Sophia: I don't know what the church is coming to.

    Trivia (3)

    • In this episode, when Blanche and Sophia are at the mall, it is the same mall for the Tv series, "Roseanne." In season one episode 16, Becky wanted to purchase a dress from a store called "The Ultimate." When Blanche and Sophia decide that they will withdraw $1,000 each to put down, as the camera zooms out you can see that the store they're walking away from is called "The Ultimate." The font of the store name and layout, are exactly the same in Roseanne.

    • When Dorothy reveals to Blanche and Rose that Glen proposed, Blanche and Rose encourage her. Rose even goes so far and says "Do it!" However, in the Pilot Rose cautions Blanche about marrying a man she hardly knows. Why now, would Rose encourage Dorothy to marry a man, who, A) when he first appeared, Rose told her to stay away from, and B) she hardly knows.

    Allusions (2)

    • Freud After Rose's dream about baseball, Dorothy makes a quip about 'Peanuts Envy', which is very close to Freud's theory of Penis Envy, in which girls realize they lack male genitalia and thus start to realize their own sexual identity. In Contemporary culture, penis envy can also apply to a man being envious of another man's size.

    • Peanuts Rose mentions several characters from Charles Schulz's cartoon 'Peanuts'. Charlie Brown, Lucy, Snoopy, and Shroeder were just a few of the recurring characters in the series.
