    • Kalinda: You know what I don't get? Why you stood by him? I would've stuck a knife in his heart. Alicia: I always thought I would, too. When I heard about those other scandals, the other wives... I thought... how can you allow yourself to be used like that? And then it happened, and I was... unprepared.

    • Diane: (after Alicia changed strategy without updating the firm) She's a junior associate who doesn't think she's a junior associate. Her husband was a State's attorney. She lived in Highland Park. It's not just teaching an old dog new tricks. It's teaching an entitled dog new tricks. Will: Oh, come on, Diane. The problem is she's catching evidence that you overlooked. I've seen you mentor these women until they start competing with you. And then you... Diane: What? Excuse me? I say we reprimand Alicia and put Cary in as first chair.

    • Alicia: Why did my husband fire you? Kalinda: He accused me of working two jobs. Alicia: Were you? Kalinda: Oh, yeah.

    • Peter: (talking about Grace and Zach) How are they? Mother says that she's helping out around the house. Alicia: They're good. Grace argues over clothes with your mother, and Zach is using you to make friends at school. Which I don't know if that's a healthy thing or something worse.

    • Kalinda: If you identify with too many clients, you burn out. Alicia: Why don't you tell me when I do something right, okay? Kalinda: Sure.

    • Cary: I'm Cary, the other new associate. Alicia: Oh, right. Alicia. Cary: Yeah, look, I know we should be at each other's throats, but I just want to say I really respect what you're doing here. Raising a family and then jumping right back into this. My mom, she's thinking of doing the same thing. Alicia: Great. Cary: Yeah. So, you're on the pro bono, right? Alicia: Mm-hmm. Cary: Yeah, that's great. I interned last summer at the Innoncence Project. My dad's best friend is Barry Scheck and it was just amazing. Helping people. Here, they got me on the Sheffrin-Marks. I'm sure it will be challenging, but at the end of the day, what have you really done? Saved a corporation a few billion dollars? Alicia: You want to trade? Cary: I would, but I guess they have other plans, so... (the assistant interrupts them)

    • Alicia: (to her client) You won't feel like it. But put on nice clothing. Force yourself, too. Not for public. For you.

    • Client: Does it ever get easier? Alicia: No, but you do get better at it.

    Trivia (14)

    • Every episode titles of season 1 are one word long.

    • The Good Wife is set in Chicago.

    • Goof: When Alicia meets David Lee in her office he says he needs her at a meet and greet upstairs in 45 minutes to hand hold a client. As he is about to leave Alicia says she has a settlement on the Duke Roscoe case in an hour. Later as Alicia is going to the meet and greet she is seen walking past the settlement meeting which has been under way for some time. From what was said earlier in her office she should have been at the meet and greet BEFORE (in 45 minutes time) the settlement meeting had started (in 60 minutes time). So either there is a continuity goof, or she is over 15 minutes late for the meet and greet which would be very unprofessional.

    • This episode, "Doubt" (1x18) is loosely based on a well known case, the murder of Meredith Kercher in Italy.

    • Every episode in season 1 had a one word title. Starting the second season, episode titles are now two words long.

    • Featured Music: "Luv Song" by Jane Jensen

    • The Nobel peace prize is actually awarded in Oslo, Norway, and not in Stockholm, Sweden. So, Joe Kent would not be going to Stockholm to deliver his speech, but to Oslo.

    • Chicago Bulls player Derrick Rose was originally scheduled to make a cameo appearance in this episode.

    • Will: (aboutthe rape case they are working on) It's got Duke Lacrosse all over it. This is a reference to the 2006 scandal in which 3 Duke players were acussed of rape and other crimes they didn't commit against an exotic dancer and escort. On 2007, the charged players were declared innocent after the charges were dropped due to lack of credible evidence.

    • Diane: (about the ballistics expert's name Kurt McVeigh) What an infortunate name. Hopefully no relation? Diane is referring to Timothy McVeigh who was convicted of bombing the Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma City in 1995, as a revolt against a tyrannical federal government. 168 people were killed, the deadliest act of terrorism within the United States prior to the 9/11 attacks. He was executed in 2001.

    • Eli Gold: I will...have you seen "Drag me to hell"? "Drag Me to Hell" is a horror film directed by Sam Raimi and released in 2009
