  • Episode Description
  • Rochester writes in his diary about the day's events: Mary rushes over to discuss something important and Jack thinks she's going to accept one of his numerous marriage proposals. Instead, she lectures him on being so cheap. Jack dozes on the couch and dreams about their wedding ceremony, with justice of the peace Don Wilson turning it into a Lucky commercial. Then it's on to their 21st anniversary; he's a failed radio actor/house husband and she's the breadwinner, still working at the May Company. Eventually, "dream Mary" also launches into him for being a cheapskate. In the epilogue, Jack brings out both Mary and Joanie for bows.moreless

    • (admiring a photo) Jack: What a dollface! Such a beautiful complexion, lovely lips, sparkling eyes... Rochester: Yeah, boss. That's the best picture you ever had taken. Jack: I'm looking at Miss Livingston, for heaven sake! How could I say that about my picture? Rochester: Without your glasses on, you could say that about a garbage truck.

    • Don Wilson: (in closing credits voice over) And don't forget, in three weeks the Jack Benny Show will originate in New York City. And Jack will have as his guest star, Miss Helen Hayes.

    • (Rochester brings in groceries) Rochester: I think next week I'm going to have to shop at a different market. Jack: Why? What's wrong with our regular market? Rochester: Well, you know how they always charge less for cans that are bent? Jack: Yeah? Rochester: Well, this morning they caught me bending them.
