    • Jack: ((about Christmas presents) I must tell you about what the orchestra boys gave me. You see, they always wait for the last minute to buy me a gift. And this year they tried to get it on Christmas Eve. The only thing open was a delicatessen. So the next morning, when I came downstairs, there hanging on the mantle was a stocking full of coleslaw. If they had just given it to me a few days sooner, I wouldn't have had to spend all that money on tinsel.

    • Jack: Jayne Mansfield has just left the stage and is exiting through the audience) Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to announce...if you will please look at ME.

    • Jack: (during an introduction) Uh, ladies and gentlemen, now that we are approaching the new year 1947, I do think... (audience begins to laugh) What did I...Oh, 1957. Now we're approaching 1957, I...I often--no wonder I'm 39!
