  • show Description
  • In 1962, Hal Seegar--a former animator under Max and Dave Fleischer--was granted rights to make a TV version of the Fleischer's Out Of The Inkwell series, which was a hit during the silent era (1916-1927). These cartoons were in color, sound, and were done under TV budgets. It opened with live action of a human opening an ink bottle, dipping a pen into it, then in stop-motion, the hand would draw Koko on a drawing board. Larry Storch voiced Koko, his adversary Mean Moe, and his pal Koko-Nut. It was syndicated usually as a feature in a station's grab-bag cartoon programming. The theme: Out of the inkwell comes Koko The Clown Let's gather around for Koko The Clown Out of the inkwell comes Koko The Clown He's so gay and he's so jolly He will make you laugh, by gollyHe gets in every kind of trouble What makes him vanish like a bubble? And while you're laughingBack to the inkwell goes Koko The Clown The funniest man who ever came to townmoreless
