  • The class is studying nocturnal animals and Ms. Frizzle takes the parents on a nighttime field trip to learn more about bats. • Mr. Perlstein: Maybe we should have stayed home today. Arnold: Dad, you took the words right out of my mouth.

    • Dr. Tennelli: Ralphie! Quit being such a pain in the neck. Ralphie: You think I'm a pain in the neck, just wait!

    • Ralphie: I was really wrong about the Friz. She's not a vampire. She's just a really go teacher who gets (in a Transilvanian accent) wrapped up in her work.

    • Keesha: Nice one, Ralphie. You turned the bus into a bat! Arnold: And this is turning into a field trip! Argh!

    • Phoebe: Echolocation! Bats don't need to see with their eyes -- they see with their ears! Wanda: Wierd, but cool!

    Notes (2)

    • This is the only time Ms. Frizzle takes the kids' parents on a field trip.

    • This episode is part of the Magic School Bus' Halloween Special which aired in 1996.

    Trivia (3)

    • Ralphie uses Carlos' voice when he says, "We can't let the Friz get away with this!"

    • At one point while the bat-bus is flying, Ralphie’s voice is unusually deep and somewhat scratchy. Oddly, his voice sounded like Stuart Stone's (the voice of Ralphie) voice when he went through puberty, but this episode takes place before that happened.

    • Throughout the episode Mrs. Franklin's dress is pink. In one scene, when they are done hanging from the chandelier, her dress is blue.
