    Standard Goodness

A very good episode here with Mary in strong acting form. Peter Haskell's humdrum persona is actually very right for the character and he exudes a nice balance of charisma and oddness. Harper has a couple of nice scenes and her final scene with Mary about her way of handling Haskell and being "over-sexed" is quite topical even over 30 years later. MacLeod gracefully (and finally) lands one of his one-liners about a "duck being better looking than Ted" with a subtelty he rarely shows. Nice writing and the difficulty of matching the costumes with the script in the tricky first scene is very well done. This is another one of those episodes where Mary has a great date and the episode ends with a "let's go out again" theme, yet we never see this character again.moreless
