  • Precious Ramotswe sells her late father's cattle, and sets herself up as Botswana's only female detective. A musician ex-husband behind her, the traditional woman (in build and outlook) takes on the best the local typing college has to offer to aid her in solving cases including kidnapping.

  • A great pilot episode. Minghella's superb direction, the excellent performances and overall high production values make for an experience that wouldn't be out of place in cinemas.

  • The reason this episode was so special - albeit a pilot - was because of the genius of Anthony Minghella - it was filmed so beautifully it almost made you weep!
