  • show Description
  • Mo'Nique and Countess Vaugh star as the mother-daughter family of Nikki and Kim Parker, in this spin-off of the hit UPN sitcom, Moesha. This time around, Kim and Nikki enroll into Santa Monica Junior College in Santa Monica, California. While Kim was initially bothered by the thought of her mother attending college with her, she eventually came to accept it, and they both grew closer because of the experience. Then, there was Nikki; she got pregnant with Kim in high school, which forced her to dropout during her senior year to raise her daughter (she went back to receive her high school diploma, as seen in an episode of Moesha), and eventually never went to college---until now. Nikki is known most-notably for her never-ending pursuits after SMC professor, Stanley Oglevee (Dorien Wilson). Throughout the entire series, Professor Oglevee denied Nikki's request for love; but as we know, that never stopped Nikki. The show became a huge hit with UPN's viewers, as did its predecessor. In 2004, after five years and 110 episodes, The Parkers ended its series run. Throughout its five seasons, the series, along with its cast members, have been nominated for 11 NAACP Image Awards; it has won five, with Mo'Nique winning four as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2005 for her role as Nikki Parker. Dorien Wilson won an Image award in 2004 as Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. In 2002, Yvette Wilson was nominated as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.moreless
