    • Skipper: Why don't you tell him what really happened, rescued man? Maurice: Rule number one: don't question the King.

    • Skipper: Sounds like somebody's got a case of the pre-launch heebeejeebies.

    • Skipper: Lemur, you're up next. Maurice: I can't take it anymore! You penguins are psychotic!

    • Private: It's a field trip! Skipper: Right boys, we're almost home. You know what to do. Maurice: Uhh...I don't think I do. Skipper: Don't get smart with me soldier. We're not cutting you any slack just 'cos you're the new guy.

    • King Julian: (Still talking to the camera) Stop looking at me like that! This is not a contest of staring...and I am shutting up now because you are still getting the shhh treatment.

    • Skipper: We have to be back at the zoo by 0900. Kowalski: Which does not give us much time. Private: We'll just have to go faster! Maurice: There is no way I can go faster!

    • King Julian: You're not going to get to me, you're not going to get...EAT THE BANANA.

    • Maurice: I've had it with Julian. He's been a royal pain in my tail for too long! Get me this, get me that, get me out of here!

    • Original International Air Dates: Czech Republic: December 27, 2010 on TV Nova

    • Mort's name means "dead" in French.

    • Each of the penguins' name means something: Skipper's name is another way to say leader or a person whose caption of a boat. Kowalski's name is smith in Polish. Private's name is the lowest rank for a soldier (and he's the youngest). Rico's name means rich in Spanish.

    • Like in the films, Skipper is voiced by Tom McGrath (the director) while Kowalski is voiced by Jeff Bennett instead of Chris Miller, Private is voiced by James Patrick Stuart instead of Christopher Knights and Rico is voiced by John DiMaggio.

    • This is the only mention of Doris the Dolphin, whom Kowalski seems to have a crush on, but Skipper tells him that she only likes him as a friend.

    • Character Debuts (excluding movie): Skipper, Kowalski, Private, Rico, King Julien, Maurice, Mort,

    • This episode premiered as part of Super Stuffed Nicktoons weekend, before a new episode of SpongeBob SquarePants.

    Trivia (74)

    • In the cutscene with the silhouettes of the penguins, Rico doesn't have his mohawk.

    • How could a tiny creature like Mort survive being crushed by a huge boulder?

    • It is unknown how the king ended up in the zoo with the penguins for the other animals are nowhere to be seen and it was not revealed what happened after they landed in Africa since Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa.

    • During the scene where Roger's talking to the penguins, Kowalski has his flippers behind his back. But then when the camera focuses on the penguins, Kowalski suddenly has his flippers on his waist. And then when Kowalski says "Fascinating", he has his flippers behind his back again.

    • How is it that Skipper, a hardened 'solider' penguin was knocked out by the falling metal covering, but Marlene was not only not knocked out but wasn't even in any pain? Also, penguins can hold their breath longer then ottors, so Skipper shouldn't have been in as much danger as he was made out to be in.

    • When the "Moon cat" says "It's time to eat!" He has a fork and a knife in both hands. Later when he makes the knocking sound on the side of the box,the fork and knife dissapear.

    • Why do the Penguins lose their hospitality when they learn the cat wasn't from the moon? He was still very nice to them, so why does where he lives matter?

    • How could Skipper crush a golf ball? Even a human wouldn't be strong to do so, let alone a penguin.

    Allusions (61)

    • Wallace and Gromit in a Grand Day Out The penguins building a rocket to go to the moon for a holiday is kind of similar to the 1989 stop-motion animated short 'Wallace and Gromit in a Grand Day Out' where Wallace and Gromit build a rocket to go to the moon for a holiday. However, The penguins failed to get to the moon while Wallace and Gromit successfully got to the moon.

    • The plot of this episode is kind of like the episode of SpongeBob SquarePants "Sandy's Rocket", where SpongeBob and Patrick steal Sandy's rocket and go to the moon. However, they end up in Bikini Bottom and think it is the moon. In this episode, the Penguins build a rocket and go to the moon, but they end up landing on a building where they think it is the moon.

    • Groundhog Day When Skipper tells Marlene she might have seen her own shadow, Julien dances and says, "Six more weeks of winter, everyone!" This is an allusion of the semi-popular holiday, "Groundhog Day" Where they determine if they will have an early spring or 6 more weeks of winter by using a groundhog. If he sees his shadow, then there will be 6 more weeks of winter, but if he doesn't, there will be an early spring.

    • The scene where the penguins are walking into there rocket while wearing their astronaut helmets is a parody of the famous walking astronaut scene from The Right Stuff.

    • Movie The Sound of music allusion: After private says: "But Earth has some of my favorite things, like cookies, and Oxygen." Then Skipper says an allusion from the movie The Sound of Music: "and brown paper packages tied up with string."

    • Episode Pun: Lunchtime

    • Title Pun: Operation: Push and Cover

    • King Julien in this episode calls the egg his little JJ, which is very similar to the name of one of the tv show and movie actors whose nickname is called Lil' JJ.
