    • Recruiter: We just want to talk to you about something near and dear to us. Dolph: What? Being Gay. Recruiter: Close. The ARMY.

    • Recruiter: Yo! I don't know which one I dig more Hip Hop, Crunk or serving my country. Jimbo: Are you guys hitting on us?

    Trivia (6)

    • When Marge Simpson is talking to her kids (Lisa and Bart), she shows a big sign of a phone tree. It shows these readable numbers with 555 prefix (couldn't read the bottom ones even on digital format): Marge Simpson: 0123 Ned Flanders: 0172 Selma: 0182 Lenny: 0154 Helen Lovejoy: 0134 Patty: 0193 Carl: 0148 Marge Simpson calls Helen but she didn't dial 0134 unless it was another Helen.

    Allusions (9)

    • David Mamet: Moe uses "watching a snappy David Mamet play" as one of his excuses for his darting eyes. Mamet is a playwright/film-director, known for his fast-talking characters and surprise twists in such plays as Glengarry Glen Ross and Speed the Plow.

    • Army recruitment video: The recruitment video starts with a shot of a knight pulling out a sword out of a rock pillar in the middle of a lava pit. This is an obvious parody of the ads put out by the US Marines that show a knight fighting a dragon in a volcano.

    • The "great military leader" that Homer imagines is a parody of Cap'n Crunch. Cap'n Crunch is the mascot of the cereal of the same name.

    • "How would you like to be stacked in a pile while a hillbilly girl points and laughs at you?" A reference to Pfc. Lynndie England, who, while serving at the Abu Ghraib prison, posed in two infamous pictures: one where she was pointing at the genitalia of various prisoners, and one where she was standing behind a dog pile of prisoners giving the "thumbs up" sign.

    • Friday The 13th: In the recruitment video, the last person you see getting shot by the helicopter is Jason Voorhees, the famous killer in the 10 "Friday The 13th" movies.
