Brilliant episode. Due to a burglar robbing everyone in the neighbourhood, Homer and a few other decide to form a Vigilante group which ends up causing more trouble then the burglar himself. One of the best Simpsons episodes ever.
Brilliant episode. Due to a burglar robbing everyone in the neighbourhood, including Barts tv and stamp collection, Lisas saxophone, and Marges pearl necklace, which she turns out to have a whole ball full of in a drawer. Homer and a few other decide to form a Vigilante group to find and stop said burglar and other crimes but ends up causing more trouble then the burglar himself. Incuding beatings which are up by 400% procent, fires and destruction of cars and properties. One of the best Simpsons episodes ever, from the best season, season 5. Very highly recommended, see it if you haven't already.moreless
what i liked- the cat burglar taking bart's stamp collection, "Lisa, never ever stop in the middle of a hoedown", the ending with Malloy escaping jail, and the men who were digging keep digging (No, no, dig UP stupid!), Homer choking the stage manager, "Fell asleep? I was drunk!" "I believe you dad", the ending to act one, etc.
hilarious episode from my favorite writer, John Swartzwelder. lots of hilarity and a good mystery aspect to it, what more could you want? A+moreless

Damn you Mulloy.
A cat burglar robs everyone on Evergreen Terrace, including Lisa. Homer gives Lisa a jug to replace her sax. When she is unsatisfied with the jug, he vows to get it back for her. The police are far too incompetent to get anywhere, so Flanders starts a neighborhood watch. Homer becomes the leader and lets the power go to his head. They beat unruly people with sacks of doorknobs and commit other crimes. The burglar steals a jewel from the museum, from under Homer's watch. Abe figures out it was his neighbor, Mulloy. Upon his arrest, Mulloy charms everyone. Homer mocks him in his cell and Mulloy tells everyone that he hid a large sum of money underneath a tree. They all rush to the location and dig for it, finding nothing. Mulloy uses this time to escape from prison.
Underage teen drinking beer!

Go Simpsons keep it up
A cunning cat burglar named Molloy is robbing Springfield's citizens of their most prized possessions. Homer forms a citizens' watch group that winds up breaking more laws than they protect. Molloy continues his crime spree uninterrupted, but when he sets his sites on the world's biggest cubic zirconia housed in the Springfield Museum, he winds up getting busted and returns everything he stole. Guest Star: Sam Neill as Molloy. Back to back amazing episode that will go down in Simpsons history as two of the best ever in the history of the whole flippen show... Go Simpsons keep it up..moreless
Homer takes on his toughest role yet.
As a vigilante. Homer, Apu, Principal Skinner, Moe, and Barnery take on the crooks of Springfield, as well as the innocent, and people who burn leaves without a permit. If I lived in Springfield, trying to catch a cat burglar, with Homer's drunken posse, I would join him, and bring bazookas to kill all of our enemies, and rule the world.
Excellent - Who would give Homer weapons!
You know that whenever you give a "responsible adult" like Homer a gun, you are bound for plenty of trouble!
This is just one of many occupations Homer has taken up over the years and the montage where him and his gang were leaving their mark of authority all over town was my favourite part.
The ending didn't really do it for me though with every one rushing to find the "hidden treasure"
But Homer abusing his power and trying to get Lisa's sax back were what made this episode so great.moreless
hilarious episode from start to finish
there are great lines in this episode most of them homer's including:
"People can come up with statistics to prove anything kent. forfty percent of people know that"
"well, mr malloy, it seems that the cat was caught by the very person that was trying to catch him"
"underage kids drinking beer without a permit!"
this episode is a very creative one, with an extra ending just as you think the episode is over with homer taunting malloy "i caught the cat burglar, that means you, you are the cat burglar" after which malloy sends them on a wild goose chase for millions of dollars buried under a big T. homer the vigilante is a classic episode and for those who haven't seen it, you should definitely get the season 5 dvd.moreless
Homer becomes a vigilante, but becomes a little corrupt as the cat burglar strikes!
One night, a cat burglar appears on the footsteps of Casa de Simpson & enters (Homer left his keys in). Then, after distracting SLH & Homer with sausages, steals everything, even Lisa's sax!
But Homer ain't alone: The guy stole all of Barney's possesions (maybe his clothes, too) & Skinner's collection of Strom Norman things.
The police are at their worst, even Wiggum masking the scent of the cat burglar with his in a conference. With not much hope from these fatsos, the citizens form a group devoted to crime. Homer is now the head.
Who says power leads to corruption? Along the way, it turns out that "Heavy Sack Beatings" are up 600%, and Homer wants, among a list, "Global Domination".
Sadly, Homer's group can't find the sax. But then, Homer tries to guard a zirconia, but gets sidetracked by minors & beer. He is then shunned by everyone.
Enter Grandpa, who tells Homer about Malloy. It turns out Malloy really was a good guy, offering everything he stole back. However, the World's Worst Cops arrest Malloy then.
In jail, Malloy tells Homer & Wiggum about millions under a "Big T". Soon, the whole town heads for a Big T, which is a spoof of "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World", including a guy driving in a river.
I loved the episode since it included this funny line along with the spoof: "No. Dig UP, stupid!"moreless
