  • Episode Description
  • Otto has a girlfriend who he plans to marry and Bart offers the Simpson house as a place to hold the nuptials. Becky, the would be bride, confesses to Marge that she doesn't like heavy metal, which is a problem when Otto hires "Cyanide," a Poison tribute band to play at their wedding. Becky moves in with the family and the "hip-female" influence she brings to the family begins to get on Marge's nerves. Selma and Patty convince Marge that Becky is out to get her; Marge overreacts and strikes first and winds up appearing before a sanity hearing. Declared insane, she goes "on the lam".moreless

  • Quotes (19)

    • Skinner: Now kids, be creative with your video projects. I don't want to see twenty Blair Witch knock offs.

    • Marge: Becky, I'm so sorry I accused you of trying to kill me and steal my family. Becky: Hey, no biggie. I was trying to steal your family. I even thought of a good place to bury you. Then I didn't have a shovel so I went to the hardware store and they had six different kinds, and I was like, "Later!"

    • Bart: The kids are saying if you say "Bloody Margie" five times, she'll appear. But then she gouges your eyes out! Homer: I hear she mates with men, then eats them!

    • Homer: What are these things in the mashed potatoes? Becky: That's the skins. I left them on. Marge: Nobody's perfect, let me just pick thos… Homer: No! Oh Becky…your potatoes are the best I've ever had! Oh, God!

    • Bart: So, any words for the bride and groom? Skinner: Not now, Bart! I'm trying to urinate. Bart: You don't seem to be trying very hard.

    Notes (2)

    • This episode originally aired as part of a Fox promotion called "The Mother of all Sundays", featuring episodes about mothers. The line-up consisted of Futurama "Mother's Day" - A story about Mom, the creator of all robots. King of the Hill "Transnational Amusements Presents: Peggy's Magic Sex Feet"- A sleazy man puts Peggy's feet on the Internet. Simpsons "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, Marge" - Marge thinks Otto's ex-girlfriend is trying to take her place in the family. Malcolm in the Middle "Smunday" - A high fever makes Lois think Monday is actually Sunday.

    • Blackboard Joke: I cannot hire a substitute student. Couch Gag: Korean animators come and paint the family by numbers.

    Trivia (3)

    • The writing on the side of the altar in the final scene is in the runes from J. R. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. An approximate transliteration is "Chris Beelmen a tonia Jesus Christ".

    • Among the Psychiatrists at Marge's insanity hearing, is what seems to the young Dr. Foster, seen in the flashbacks of the episode "Hurricane Neddy."

    • When Marge was escaping the police by disguising herself as a band member in a parade, the closed captioning has the lyrics, "They're coming to take me away, ha-ha, they're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-ha, to the funny farm". But the lyrics were never sung.

    Allusions (4)

    • Star Wars At Otto's wedding, Patty and Selma are talking to Lisa about how guys are pigs, and Patty says "The bitterness is strong in this one." This is an allusion to Star Wars: A New Hope, when Darth Vader says "The force is strong with this one," about Luke Skywalker.

    • Krusty shows a picture of Marge with mouth of somebody else who is making jokes- this sketch is very familiar to the ones in Conan O'Brien's late night talk show.

    • The outfit Becky wears at the end looks very similar to Vamperilla of comic book fame. The differences are that Vamperilla's outfit shows a lot more skin and the logo is in a different place.

    • Episode Title:
This title is taken from the classic 1963 film comedy It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World.
