Trivia (32)

  • Stone and Keller's ride for the season was a 1971 Ford Galaxie 500 4-door sedan.

  • Actor Joby Baker plays "Sonny Lane", however the character is listed on the end credits as "Jamie Lane".

  • Toward the end of the episode, Stone and keller board a Coast Guard hovercraft, which began speeding outbound toward the Golden Gate only to be seen moving the opposite direction with Alcatraz in the background. Basically, it started moving north and shortly later was seen moving southbound through the bay, hence in circles.

  • Keller and Stone are homicide detectives, but in this episode they're out of their bailiwick, investigating a gambling racket that doesn't turn to murder until after they're involved.

  • A bus traveling Northbound on I-101 on its way to Oakland would have to go through San Francisco to get to the Bay Bridge. There is no reason for it to go all the way to Oakland then double back to make San Francisco the "end of the line".

  • Keller is shown to live in a bowfront apartment, painted gray, #287.

  • When Det. Stone was going under the freeway his top coat was blue, but when he visits the young hobo his coat is brown.

  • The title of this episode is borrowed from the 1950 Robinson Jeffers poem of the same name.

  • The title "A Trout in the Milk" is from Henry David Thoreau, the full quote being "Some circumstantial evidence is very strong, as when you find a trout in the milk." Thoreau is a renowned American author who lived from 1817-1862.

  • Steve Keller refers to a woman making "us an offer we couldn't refuse!", a play off similar dialogue in Francis Ford Coppola's 1972 film The Godfather.

  • This mixes two two famous 1970's news stories: the murder of Sharon Tate by the Manson Family, and the Symbionese Liberation Army.

  • The son of B.J. Palmer (Desi Arnaz Jr.) is named Ricky.  Little Ricky is of course the name of the son of Lucy and Ricky in Desi Jr.'s parents' sitcom, I Love Lucy, although Desi Arnaz Jr. did not play the character.
