  • Welcome to The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! guide at Cartoon Summary The Mario Bros.; Mario and Luigi, were two plumbers from Brooklyn. On one of their plumbing jobs, they were in the middle of unclogging a bathtub drainpipe. Without any warning, the drain suddenly pulled the brothers in, and warped them to the Mushroom Kingdom. Upon their arrival, they rescued Princess Peach Toadstool and Toad from King Bowser Koopa and his army. Although Princess Toadstool and Toad are now safe, the Koopas are still at large. On top of that, the warp zone leading to Brooklyn had closed. It's up to Mario and Luigi to not only liberate the Mushroom World from King Koopa, but to find a way back to Brooklyn. Live Action Summary Set after the events of the Donkey Kong games, but prior to the events of the cartoon, this portion of the show shows us how Mario and Luigi used to live, running their plumbing shop in Brooklyn. Their friends include Radigator and Edison the Electrician, not to mention the many guest stars that come to visit. The Theme Song: Plumber's Rap Hey paisanos! Character Guide Mario Mario The main character, and unofficial leader of the heroes. Being a plumber, he can can do just about anything that involves plumbing, and he can use plumbing tools for a lot more than just plumbing! Mario also has a huge taste for Italian food. On this show, he and Luigi got sucked down a drain in Brookyln which took them to the Mushroom Kingdom, and now they have to find their way home. Luigi Mario Mario's younger brother. Although he tends to have a more cowardly attitude towards danger than Mario, he's probably the saner of the two. Unfortunately for Luigi, the others tend to treat him like a fall boy, causing him to end up doing a lot of dirty work. Like his bro, he's a plumbing pro, and he has a fondness for Italian cuisine. Princess Peach Toadstool She's the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, which has been taken over by the Koopas. She's also the most reasonable thinker of the group. She and the Marios have to find a way to stop the Koopas so she can reclaim her kingdom. NOTE: On the cartoons, she was never called Peach, so the guide will usually refer to her as Princess or sometimes Princess Toadstool for continuity's sake. Please refer to her as Princess in your submissions. Toad Princess' assistant. Toad often has a lot to say, and usually cracks jokes here and there. Though he doesn't look like he's capable of much, he's proven he can pull through when things get tough, and is often fairly resourceful. King Bowser Koopa The leader of the Koopa Troop is big, bad, and proud of it. He's friends with no one, and even his henchmen are treated poorly by him. However, he does have a sense of humor, and it shows. His goal in life is to conquer the Mushroom World, one land at a time. He usually hangs out with either Mouser, Triclyde, a Troopa, or sometimes all three of them. In many episodes, he will don a costume and go by a different name, usually just for the heck of it. NOTE: On this show, he was never called Bowser, so the guide will usually refer to him as Koopa for continuity's sake. Please refer to him as Koopa in your submissions. Trivia (261)

    • Toad wears white pants in this and the next episode, they're supposed to be blue.

    • Right before King Koopa says the line "I want my feet licked," his face quickly deforms to a larger differently shaped head and back during a short blinking animation.

    • When Toad tries to bribe the Birdo with gold coins, the Birdo is mouthing the words.

    • When Luigi says "What is that thing?", Princess is moving her mouth.

    • Koopa's tongue is black in the first shot he appears in.

    • When Mario says, "Gimmie pasta power,....", his mouth isn't moving.

    • When Mario said "Cheer up Luigi, it could be worse." The "M" on his hat is white, but it's supposed to be red.

    • Koopa says "Watch it soldier! When I want my feet licked, I'll ask for it! I want my feet licked.". Yet in an SMB3 episode, he said he hated getting his toes wet!

    • Koopa: Beat, cheat, and be merry!
Koopa's line is an obvious reference to the advertising slogan "Eat, drink, and be merry". This phrase was also parodied in the print advertisement for Mario Party.

    • Mario's Magic Carpet: This episode is a parody of Aladdin.

    • The Mouth of the River: The Mouth of the River resembles Flurrie from Paper Mario: the Thousand Year Door.

    • Mario and the Beanstalk: this episode parodies to the fairy tale Jack and the Beanstalk.

    • Toad: It ain't over 'til the fat lady gets her weddin' ring!
This is a play on the old saying, "It's not over until the fat lady sings." There are a couple theories about where this saying comes from, but it seems that the saying make have come from the late Yogi Berra(or perhaps Dan Cook). More on this at the provided link.

    • Mouser: It's turbo time! This was Turbo-Man's catchphrase in the movie, Jingle All The Way.

    • Legend of Zelda The music that the quirks 'sing', is in fact the theme from the Legend of Zelda, another video game series created by Nintendo. Ironically, in one of the Legend of Zelda segments, Link whistles the theme of the Super Mario Bros.

    • Crocodile Dundee:
The name Alligator Dundee is an obvious reference to the character Crocodile Dundee, in the movie of the same name.
