Allusions (45)

  • Koopa: Beat, cheat, and be merry!
Koopa's line is an obvious reference to the advertising slogan "Eat, drink, and be merry". This phrase was also parodied in the print advertisement for Mario Party.

  • Mario's Magic Carpet: This episode is a parody of Aladdin.

  • The Mouth of the River: The Mouth of the River resembles Flurrie from Paper Mario: the Thousand Year Door.

  • Mario and the Beanstalk: this episode parodies to the fairy tale Jack and the Beanstalk.

  • Toad: It ain't over 'til the fat lady gets her weddin' ring!
This is a play on the old saying, "It's not over until the fat lady sings." There are a couple theories about where this saying comes from, but it seems that the saying make have come from the late Yogi Berra(or perhaps Dan Cook). More on this at the provided link.

  • Mouser: It's turbo time! This was Turbo-Man's catchphrase in the movie, Jingle All The Way.

  • Legend of Zelda The music that the quirks 'sing', is in fact the theme from the Legend of Zelda, another video game series created by Nintendo. Ironically, in one of the Legend of Zelda segments, Link whistles the theme of the Super Mario Bros.

  • Crocodile Dundee:
The name Alligator Dundee is an obvious reference to the character Crocodile Dundee, in the movie of the same name.
