  • Die Fledermaus: Well, if it isn't American Maid, the world's most patriotic domestic. This looks like a job for Die Fledermaus, not some mop-squeezer. Why don't you go scrub out a toilet somewhere? American Maid: Why don't you go smell up a cave?

  • The Tick: Come have lunch with me, Arthur. Adventure will follow!

  • Sally Vacuum: We'll have more on this story as it develops. Meanwhile, on a lighter note...clowns...

Trivia (28)

  • The 3 judges/moderators of the Superhero Placement Expo (whose names aren't spoken in the episode) are Rubber Justice (skinny guy in purple suit), Earth Quaker (Quaker with a light orange brick-like body) and the Fiery Flame (guy with red hair which resembles flame). These are sort of parodies of the 3 male members of the Fantastic Four: Mr. Fantastic, The Thing and The Human Torch.

  • The color of Tick's outfit changes throughout the show. Sometimes it's the normal blue color we see in the rest of the series, and sometimes it's more of a sea green color.

  • After Chairface successfully carves "CHA" into the moon, he's stopped. However, the "CHA" stays on the moon throughout the whole series (at least until the "C" is removed).

  • Despite being left behind by the Forehead, both Boils Brown and Zipperneck can be seen among the guests at Chairface's party during the scene where the Tick is force-feeding the 'little crab things' to the Man Who Looks Like Peter Lorre.

  • When the Tick, Arthur and Neil were at the exit, Neil had a scaly hand in front of Arthur, but when the scene changes, Arthur shook Neil's normal hand. When the scene changes again, Arthur still shakes his hand, but it changed back to Neil's scaly hand.

  • As they leave the park Arthur and the Tick are wearing yellow souvenir T-shirts. When the angle changes to show Neil waving to them the shirts are gone.

  • Swamp Thing: When the hypnotized Tick emerges from the murky waters surrounding Pendecker Labs, covered in seaweed, he resembles Swamp Thing.

  • In one of the opening scenes, when the two trees come to life and steal the Sid & Al's gardening truck, the driver is making a delivery to a housewife who bears a striking resemblance to The Human Bullet's wife. Whether this actually is Mrs. Bullet or just a random character who distinctly resembles her is unclear.

Allusions (42)

  • Big Shot Clearly a parody/allusion to the Marvel comic hero Punisher.

  • Sea Urchin: The voice and manner of speaking of Sea Urchin are based on the character Raymond Babbitt from the film Rain Man, played by Dustin Hoffman.

  • The Guy That Looks Like Peter Lorre: Although his name is never actually mentioned, this is what the man who gives Dean to Chairface is called. His appearance and his voice and mannerisms are all modeled on actor Peter Lorre, known for playing wormy, shifty characters.

  • Jack Tuber, Man of A Thousand Faces: Jack Tuber has a potato for a head, with fake facial features attached to it. This of course is an allusion to the classic children's toy, Mr. Potato Head.

  • Man with a Thousand Faces A silent film era actor Lon Chaney, Sr. was known as "The Man of a Thousand Faces, for his ability to transform himself into a large and diverse assortment of characters through makeup and pantomime.

  • Villain Names: Chairface Chipendale, Zipperneck, The Forehead and the rest are modeled after the villains from the Dick Tracy comics. Each villain in Dick Tracy has some grotesquely exaggerated feature for which he is named, such as Pruneface or Flattop.

  • Dinosaur O'Neil: ...I saw it in a movie once. He was referring to "Jurassic Park", where scientists tried to clone dinosaurs for a theme park.

  • Mad Scientist The mad scientist in the episode is obviously based on Doctor Strangelove (played by Peter Sellers) from the movie "Doctor Strangelove".
