The two arrive in the middle of a pitched battle between the Mexican Army and a handful of Texans who have fortified an old mission in San Antonio de Bejar, Texas........men who are just hours away from dying to the last man at......THE ALAMO.
I liked the action and the historical interactions between known historical characters, such as the rivalry between Bowie and Travis, but hated the liberties taken with known history, particularly that the battle took place in the early morning hours just before dawn, not at 5 pm that day. Also seemingly ignored by even the Tunnel staff was that the men of the Alamo, while doomed, did not die in vain. Their stand gave Sam HOuston the valuable time he needed to raise the Army that would fight and defeat Santa Anna at San Jacinto. When Travis was accidentally brought into the tunnel, they might have told him that, rather than just tell him that his command was doomed to die. As it was, he must have felt he was about to die for nothing.
