  • Quotes (4)

    • King Henry VIII: I ask you only one thing. That you allow me to serve and worship you as Lancelot served and worshiped Guinevere. Sweet, gentle lady, will you let me serve? (after a short pause) Jane Seymour: I will.

    • Queen Anne: Because the love I bear you is so great, it broke my heart to see you loved others.

    • Edward Seymour: Imagine what it would mean to us, as a family, if he did grow to love her. John Seymour: I'm certainly aware there are some of course, who would like to see the queen replaced. Jane Seymour: Wait, wait... I thought that... Are you saying that I should be queen instead of her? Edward Seymour: Would you like to be?

    • Pope Paul III: My son, surely you realise, if I excommunicate a fellow prince, then that prince is not only separated from God but also from the communion of the faithful. His rule becomes invalid and it is a religious imperative to overthrow him. You are a great Catholic prince, you have armies, you have ships, you have guns. So, I ask you in all humility, as your Holy Father, will you invade England? Will you remove and kill the apostate? And will you return that country to our common faith? (the cardinals applaud and the Pope blesses King Francis before turning away, thus denying him the chance to answer)

    Trivia (2)

    • The scene in which Anne hands out alms to the poor, mirrors an identical scene in episode 5 of season 1. In that episode, Katherine was the one handing out the alms.

    • The King's brush with death. In reality the king's recovery was much slower and he never recovered fully. His mobility was impaired which added to his growing weight. Anne Boleyn's baby was thought to be lost upon hearing news of the king's brush with death, and not due to a dramatic sight.
