A look at man's inhumanity as well as man's assumpption that mankind is the only possible intelligience
Deep and thought provoking for those who take the time to really try to understand what's being said here. Granted the action is wanting, but the basic idea is sound and all too possible. In the end, when it finally does come, it will most likely be man's ignorance and reluctance to think outside the box!
It is 1974, ten years after much of civilization was destroyed by nuclear war. A small community has managed to survive because they have been under the care of a reclusive "old man." Then one day soldiers arrive and take control of the community.
This episode has a very good idea for a story, but it suffers from the fact that it is somewhat predictable and has one too many plot holes. It was obvious to me from the beginning that the townspeople turning against the "old man" would be the key to their undoing. Also, I have some questions to ask: first, how did the computer get in the cave? Second, what supplied its power? A good question since there has been a nuclear war and all the power stations have been destroyed. Finally, who built the computer? It's a very flawed episode.moreless
