    • Metropolitan Opera tenor Richard Tucker was a former student of the noted Wagnerian tenor Paul Althouse and Richard first gained recognition as a contestant on ABC's "Metropolitan Auditions of the Air" in 1944. A year later he made his debut in a starring role in "La Gioconda".
