  • My God- what an emotionally gut-wrenching, powerful episode! In this penultimate installment of the penultimate season of The Wire, the characters each face their own crossroads. This one changes the game for everybody...and no one walks away unscathed.

    Trivia (1)

    • Outgoing Republican Maryland Governor Robert Ehrlich has a cameo as a security guard at the Maryland State House where Mayor Carcetti goes to grovel to the fictional Republican Governor for funds to bail out the city's school deficit. Knowing that the upstart young Mayor Carcetti will be gunning for his job in two years, the Governor makes him wait until he's fed up. On his way out, Ehrlich's character, the guard, stops him and says "The Governor will see you now."

    Allusions (2)

    • Bunk says to Lester, who is hot on Marlo's tail, "Man, you act like you're on the trail of Pol Pot, or some shit." Pol Pot was the leader of the bloody Khmer Rouge government which ruled Cambodia with an iron fist during the 1970's. After his fall from power, Pol Pot was pursued for many years through the Cambodian jungles, but never definitively brought to justice.

    • Title: The title of this episode is a lyric from the Billie Holiday song "God Bless The Child."
