    • Narrator: And so it turned out to be a great birthday after all. I slow danced with Paul's Aunt Selma. I ate more than Mrs. Pfeiffer could have dreamed possible. And in a funny way... when I look back on it... I sorta feel like it was my bar mitzvah, too.

    • Narrator: When Paul and I were little kids... we had our birthdays only four days apart. Come to think of it, we still have our birthdays only four days apart. But I guess birthdays aren't as big a part of life as they used to be. Man - we has some classic parties. Year after year we reached for manhood together. When we fell short... we fell short together. God - we couldn't wait to get older.

    Notes (3)

    • Although not mentioned in the end titles, a real rabbi, Rabbi Richard Schachet, appeared in the episode for the Bar Mitzvah.

    • Featured Music: "Happy, Happy Birthday Baby" by Tune Weavers "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy" by Ohio Express "Bookends Theme" by Simon & Garfunkel

    • Danica McKellar (Winnie Cooper) doesn't appear in this episode, although she is featured in the credits.

    Trivia (3)

    • Kevin Arnold's birthday is March 18th.

    • In this episode Paul's middle name is mentioned: Joshua.

    • In this episode Paul's bar mitzvah is set, according to tradition, for the first Saturday after his 13th birthday; set for March 18. This conflicts with Kevin's 13th birthday "party" that actually falls on that Saturday. Funny, March 18, 1969 was a Tuesday. March 18th does not even fall on a Saturday in 1968 or 1970.
