  • Episode Description
  • General guests: John Cooper (sculptor) "Just what is Tiswas? : Is there anyone left in ATVland who hasn't heard of Tiswas? Well, just in case there is someone somewhere who still sleeps late on Saturday, this is what you've been missing for the past two years . . . cartoons by the score, film clips by request - just say what you want and Tiswas may screen it - custard pies by the faceful, competitions, phone-ins - the show gets up to 150 calls during its 140-minute run - gags - heard about the Irishman who bough a zebra and called it "Spot"? Plus anything else the three presenters can think of." "And who is the presentation team? Now come on, you must have heard of "Old Strawhead" (the taxman knows him better as Chris Tarrant), "Poochie" (but he will answer to Peter Tomlinson) and Trevor "Me Myself" East. This manic trio come live from Studio Three today with business as usual, and a little of the unusual. So, put that fishing rod away and settle down to a stream of the best Saturday morning entertainment around" - so said the TV Times in a first ever panel billing for Tiswas. Despite the printed details, Trevor East was not present for this edition. Features included Tiswas Tarrant Time, The History of the Tarrant Family, plus the Under 8's, Which What Where Who Why and Tricky Test Time competitions. There was a promo film of The Wombles performing "Banana Rock", and Jigsaw were the guests in Tiswas Top Tips. Cartoons: "Barney Bear's Victory Garden", "One Mother's Family" and "Dodo And The Touchies" (Dodo). Film clip: "One Of Our Dinosaurs Is Missing". There were also episodes of "The Houndcats" ("Is There A Doctor In The Greenhouse Mission") and "The Forest Rangers" ("The Wendigo").moreless
