  • Quotes (17)

    • Bumblebee: We're all gonna die, aren't we?

    • Starscream: Megatron is a fool whose been chasing a ghost for centuries! I seriously doubt we'll find this "AllSpark" aboard such an insignificant vessel. Lugnut: Traitor! Megatron is wise! Megatron is bold! Megatron will return the Decepticons to Cybertron and... Blackarachnia: And wipe our homeland clean of the stench of "Autobot tyranny," bladdy blah blah blah! Did you memorize that speech, Lugnut, or is it just hard wired into that thick one-track processor of yours!?

    • Bumblebee: Cool your circuits, Bulkhead. I'm working as fast as I can, and you know there's no bot faster!

    • Megatron: Starscream, report. Starscream: Energy readings off the scale, my liege. Shall I fire upon the Autobots? Megatron: Cripple their ship, but do not destroy it... yet. Starscream: Yes, yes, brillant strategy, oh wise and great leader.

    • Bumblebee: But, we're Repair bots. We're not programmed for this kind of action! Optimus Prime: Then consider this an upgrade.

    Notes (11)

    • Sentinel Prime's appearance in this episode is noticeably different from that of his later appearances. Derrick J. Wyatt revealed that, at the time this episode went into production, the only part of Sentinel that had been designed was his head. This non-final design was later replaced with his normal design.

    • Marty Isenberg wanted to use a Transformer who could "transform into anything." When that proved unworkable for toy reasons, the triple changer named Blitzwing was used. Eric Siebenaler, Hasbro's lead designer on Transformers, gave the idea of Blitzwing's face swapping.

    • During preproduction, Rodimus Prime, Optimus Prime's sucessor from the original animated series, was going to be his rival. When the idea of Rodimus Prime being "a jerk" didn't go, the character was dropped in favor Sentinel Prime, making it the first time the name is used in an animated series.

    • During the show's preproduction, the character Red Alert was suggested as one of the five Autobots. Unlike previous incarnations, the character would have been a female. Apparently, because of the live-action movie and to attract older fans, the character was dropped in favor of Ratchet.

    • The character Hot Shot, an Autobot rookie from the past three Transformers series (also known as The Unicron Trilogy), was suggested for a character during the show's preproduction. Because of the live-action movie and to help new fans understand the series better, the character was dropped in favor of Bumblebee.

    Trivia (4)

    • In the video Optimus Prime was watching, Bumblebee from the original Transformers series is shown.

    • Character(s) Introduced: Autobots- Optimus Prime Ratchet Bulkhead Bumblebee Prowl Sentinel Prime Ultra Magnus Decepticons- Starscream Lugnut Blackarachnia Blitzwing Megatron Humans- Isaac Sumdac Sari Sumdac

    • While every Optimus Prime in the Transformers series (Excluding Beast Wars) had Prime as the bot in charge of Cybertron, in this series, he is a commander of a small group of repair bots even after being taught at the Autobot Academy.

    • Transformers Animated is the first series to feature an Autobot named Prowl that is not a car, but a motorcycle. Keeping with the classic theme of previous Prowls, he is still a police vehicle.

    Allusions (9)

    • Megatron: Appearance. Megatron's head resembles the design used for the 2007 movie character and carries the arm cannon of the original 1984 G1 Megatron.

    • Sentinel Prime: Appearance Sentinel Prime's rather large chin and blue coloring makes him a physical parody of the animated Superhero, The Tick. Townsend Coleman, who voices Sentinel, was coincidentally the voice of The Tick in the cartoon series of the same name.

    • The footage of the Great War Optimus Prime was watching at the beginning come from the epsiodes "More than Meets the Eye, Part 1" and "War Dawn" from the 1984 Transformers series. If you watch closely, you can see several G1 characters in the clips, including G1 Megatron, Skywarp, Thundercracker, G1 Bumblebee, Wheeljack, and the one shot character Dion.

    • Blitzwing having three revolving faces could be a reference to Man-E-Faces from "Masters of the Universe." This would make sense, since Mattel and Hasbro are competitors and filmation has a few badguys in "She-Ra, Princess of Power" who are based on the Transformers.

    • Sentinel Prime Although this is the character's first appearance in a animated series, Sentinel Prime has appeared in nearly every comic book incarnation of the Transformers franchise. In all his appearances, Sentinel is shown as the Prime who preceded Optimus, the former's death (at the hands of Megatron in the Dreamwave and recent IDW stories) often the catalyst for latter taking the mantle of Prime.
