  • First Aired: January 31, 2004 Last Aired: June 1, 2005Episodes: 52 colored episodesAge Rating: All ages Genres: Adventure, Mecha, Science Fiction, Shounen It's been 10 Earth years since the last battle against Unicron involving him and Megatron disappearing into deep space. The Autobots and Decepticons have been working together and have set up mining post for mining Energon in which to use the Energon to restore Cybertron. But a bad guy called Alpha Q (AKA Alpha Quintesson) has sent a Decepticon named Scorponok and a group of drones called the Terrorcons to raid the mining settlements and steal the Energon so they can restore and power up Unicron and revive Megatron with the help of the Decepticons. But a resurrected Megatron has other plans with Unicron since he has plans to control him. Scorponok and Alpha Q have different plans for Unicron and that is to use Unicron's power to re-create things like his home planet, and destroy Megatron once and for all. It's up to Optimus Prime, the Autobots, and the Omnicons along with a teenage boy named Kicker to stop the Decepticons from stealing all the Energon and taking over the universe. Reference: Unicron has the same power as the Matrix as in Generation 1 Optimus can use the matrix to give life or bring something back to life. Characters re-introduced are Optimus Prime, Megatron/Galvatron, Hot Shot, Cyclonus, Demolisher, Starscream, Tidal Wave, Unicron, Rad, Carlos, Alexis, Highwire, Sureshock, and Grindor and the introductions of Alpha Q, The Terrorcon units (Battle Ravage, Divebomb, Cruellock, and Insecticon Units), Scorponok, Primus, Ironhide, Inferno, Kicker, Rodimus, Dr. Jones (Kicker's Father), Miranda (Kicker's Mother), Sally (Kicker's Sister), Mischa (Kickers girl friend), Prowl, Landmine, Snowcat (Cyclonus' upgraded form), Shockblast, Mirage (Tidal Wave's upgraded form), Wing Saber, Cliffjumper, Bulkhead, Omega Supreme, Roadblock (Inferno's revived form), Sixshot (Shockblast Little Brother), Superion Maximus, Bruticus Maximus, Constructicon Maximus etc. as well as the Omnicons Skyblast, Strongarm, Signal Flare, Arcee, Downshift, and more. Certain Autobots can combine with another to form a more powerful version of an Autobot (example: Hot Shot + Inferno = Powerlink Hot Shot) via the Spark of Combination which is considered a comemeration for the warriors who fought greatly in battle. Continued from Transformers: Armada and Energon is later continued by Transformers Cybertron. • Alpha-Q1: I am deep within a dense, dark cloud of cosmic matter. I am at the core; all that remains of the planet sized transformer known as Unicron. Alpha-Q2: Wait a second, hold everything. Something is missing here. Give me a moment to think! Alpha-Q3: The energy core is seriously depleted. Alpha-Q2: We scanned the Universe for a new source. I am Alpha-Q; one of the many victims of Unicron, he has brought me back online to prevent him from going off-line. The Alpha-Q laugh Alpha-Q3: Must awaken Unicron. Must release energy eating terrorcons. He hungers for the most powerful energy in the Universe: Energon. It is an abundance on Earth, and nothing will stand in their way!

    • Optimus Prime: (to Kicker) If you want to ignore my orders, then I have no choice but to send you back to your mother! Kicker: You Wouldn't! Optimus Prime: Try Me!

    • Console Officer: (to Misha, who just rushed in) What kept you? Hot date?

    • Terrorcon 1: We have the Energon... Terrorcon 2: ...from the planet!! Megatron: Well? You know what to do! Do you flying halfwits need a command for everything!!??

    • Megatron: (During an ongoing attack) Scorponok, prove your loyalty and be my shield.

    • Megatron: (To Starscream) If you're trying to make me mad, you're doing a very good job!

    • Snowcat:Yodalaheho!!

    • Demolishor: "This reminds me of the old days!" Snowcat: "I thought Megatron erased your memories when he rebuilt you." Demolishor: "I thought Megatron erased your memories when he rebuilt you."

    • This episode was published in the Cine Manga Transformers Energon "A New Threat".

    • Japanese Title: Arise! Ocean City

    • First Apperences of: Optimus Prime Jetfire Hot Shot Inferno High Wire, Grindor, Sureshock Divebomb Battle Ravage Demolisher Dr. Jones Rad Sally Miranda Carlos Alexis (has no-lines)

    • The head of Hot Shot is a homage to the head of Blaster: a G1 Auto-Bot who can transform into a cassette player.

    • The Autobot Axalon from Transformers Armada appeares in Kickers flashback.

    • In this episode, Kicker's friend's name is pronounced 'My-Kah' instead of 'Meesha.'

    • Divebomb possesses the same alt. Mode and name as the Predacon Divebomb from Generation One, and Battle Ravage is based on the Cassetticon from G1 also.

    • Apparently ALL of the Autobots have new upgrades, whereas Demolishor, Cyclonus, and Tidalwave have their original mold, just different color schemes.

    Trivia (52)

    • On the DVD release, Optimus Prime says it has been twenty years since the Unicron Battles, instead of only 10.

    • Scorponok appears somewhat smaller in this episode than he was in the previous episode. This is most noticable when Optimus Prime and Powerlinx Ironhide are fighting Scorponok towards the end.

    • Inferno speaks with Ironhide's voice in one scene.

    • While Ironhide is telling Kicker about Rodimus, and how Optimus stayed on Cybertron to protect the Autobots, we see Copter-2 flying around the Energon Tower at Ocean City. In the close-up shot, Copter-2 returns to Optimus and transforms into his left arm. But in the far-off shot before that, we can see that Optimus is in his normal un-Super mode.

    • When Rodimus disengages from Prowl his chestplate is missing.

    • When Hotshot first transforms on Mars, he has an Energon star attached, but he hadn't recieved one before he left. About 15 seconds later the star isn't there. It doesn't reappear until Skyblast delievers him one.

    • When Snowcat says "I thought you were a goner for sure when you hit that energon tower, he said it WRONG! Demolishor died in the Miranda II's energon GRID! Not the tower! The grid!

    • The title of the episodes is mis-spelled on screen as "A Tale of Two Heros," rather than the correct "Heroes."

    Allusions (11)

    • None: None
Inferno is a tribute to the Generation 1 Inferno.

    • Optimus Prime: "They're called Terrorcons..."
The term "Terrorcon" goes back to the original Transformers line. In that line, the Terrorcons were a sub-group of the Decepticons with the alternate forms of chimerical monsters. Consisting of Blot, Cutthroat, Hun-Grrr, Rippersnapper, and Sinnertwin, they could combine into the massive Gestalt robot Abominus. The Terrorcons here are much different than their G1 predeccessors, but fit the description perfectly.

    • none: none
Scorponok was the Decepticon triple-changer base that appeared in the Headmaster story arc. It had no real intelligence, but was designed like any other Transformer. It's three forms were a scorpion, robot, and base. It's Autobot counterpar was Fortress Maximus.

    • None: None
Megatron's design is based from the "evolved" form of G-1's Megatron, Galvatron, whom he was called in the SuperLink series. Also the color-scheme of G-1 Megatron was used as well.

    • Optimus Prime: "Optimus reporting in, Primus."
Primus is primarily from the comics, but he is referenced in Beast Wars. The legend of Primus depicts him as a warrior god that fights Unicron the Destroyer. During a battle, they fell into this dimension and embedded themselves into large asteroids and couldn't get out. Over time, they turned their new bodies into metal forms. Primus caused the creation of the Transformers as a line of defense against Unicron and gave them the ability to transform because Unicron could. Primus is Cybertron. This is the reason Unicron goes straight toward Cybertron and consumes planets to build up strength along the way. He wants to finish the fight with Primus so he can finish consuming the universe.

    • Jetfire: Dinobots... I thought they were extinct!
Jetfire's reference to "Dinobots" upon spotting the Cruellock Terrorcons is an obvious nod to the Autobot subgroup known as Dinobots from 1984, and it may also be a nod to the Beast Wars character Dinobot from 1996.

    • :
When Ironhide is wandering through the Cruellock egg chamber, the episode wordlessly makes reference to the movies "Alien" and "Godzilla (1998)"

    • none: none
"Sleep mode" that Optimus went in is actually Stasis Lock like in Beast Wars.
