  • show Description
  • Armageddon has hit and the world is in shambles. Vampires and humans are at war with each other and an international agency known as the Chancery (Vatican) tries to intercede to protect the humans by using allies such as AX, a special operations force run by Cardinal Catherina. AX's agents are called executors.Meet Abel Nightroad, an executor who is actually a vampire with the ability to suck the blood of other vampires. He soon meets a young girl named Esther. The outcome of this meeting will determine the fate of both the human race and the vampires!Trinity Blood (トリニティ・ブラッド) is based on a series of novels by Japanese author Yoshida Sunao. Sunao's works were originally published in the magazine "The Sneaker". "The Sneaker" targets young adult males and has serialized many popular Japanese novels, including the well-liked Haruhi Suzumiya novels. From the novels came anime and manga adaptations. The manga is drawn by manga-ka Kiyo Kuujou and is serialized in Asuka magazine. The anime is produced by Studio Gonzo and is 24 episodes long. All three works are significantly different.Airing History: WOWOW: (Japanese Station) – April 28, 2005-October 6, 2005 RAZER: (Canadian Station) – July 6, 2006-December 14, 2006 Adult Swim: (U.S. Station, Part of Cartoon Network) – September 9, 2006-March 3, 2007moreless

    • Narrator : And out of that lasting darkness...they emerged. From the legends of ancient times, they have been called forth into the world anew...vampires!

    • Abel: A cup of milk tea would be nice...with thirteen spoonfuls of sugar. Jessica: Uh, I'm sorry!

    • Abel: I'll wait! I'll wait! All the powers of heaven and earth couldn't move me from this spot.

    • Jessica: (thinking) Is that the master code? He's hijacking the ship!

    • Cardinal Caterina: The Tristan belongs to the kingdom of Albion. Think of the strain that would place on our diplomatic relations!

    • Jessica: Please, don't tamper with it, Father! That can only be done by a programmer specialized in lost technology! Abel: It'll be all right...have a little faith.

    • Abel: Enough! You've had your fill. Vampire: I'll drink your blood, too! (attacks Abel)

    • Vampire: Good...run then...there's nothing like the thrill of the hunt!

    Allusions (32)

    • Krsnik The word, Krsnik, refers to a Slovenian mythical creature, a vampire slaying shaman, who can take the form of various animals. This may be where the idea of the Krusnik (alternate spelling for Crusnik) came from, in this anime.

    • Fleurs du Mal means "The Flowers of Evil" in Italian.

    • Cardinal Caterina Sforza The character, Cardinal Caterina Sforza, is based on Caterina Sforza (1463-1509). The real Caterina was born in Forli, Italy, and was an illegitimate daughter of Galeazzo Maria Sforza, the Duke of Milan.

    • Gun Kata The scene where Tres takes out all the Vampires with his guns, is taken from a scene in the 2002 moive Equilibrium. The technique used is the fictitious gun-fighting martial arts (Gun kata).

    • Gyula Though Gyula was originally a personal name, later, in the 9th-10th centuries, in the Hungarian tribal federation, the term was applied to the person who was second in rank.

    • István István was the name of Hungary's first king.

    • Var "Var" means castle in Hungarian.

    • Ottoman Empire The "eastern empire" mentioned by the Cardinals that exists on Hungaria's frontier fits the description of the Ottoman Empire, a Muslim Turkish regime that expanded into Hungary's borders in the sixteenth century, threatening Christian Europe.
