    • MYSTERY GUEST: While Paul Winchell is making his first "WML?" appearance tonight in this essentially "found after all, now get lost" episode (being that it's not in the GSN archive, but potentially in a private collection), this is hardly the last time the famed ventriloquist and future Hanna-Barbera voice artist will appear on "WML?" In 1956, he made a total of six guest panelist appearances, all with his "dummy," Jerry Mahoney, as one (or two) of the potential candidates to replace Fred Allen upon Mr. Allen's death that year. In about half the episodes, the panel was pre-seated at the opening, while on other shows, Mr. Winchell, holding his dummy Mr. Mahoney, took part in the curtain entrance along with the other panelists. The shows he will make these appearances in are as follows: EPISODE #308 of April 29, 1956; EPISODE #313 of June 3, 1956; EPISODE #315 OF June 17, 1956; EPISODE #316 of June 24, 1956; EPISODE #320 of July 22, 1956; and his last, EPISODE #322 of August 5, 1956. In all, Paul appeared on "WML?" a total of seven times. After Mr. Winchell died on June 24, 2005 at age 82, GSN ran a two-day, four-episode tribute to him, airing EPISODE #308 and EPISODE #313 on June 30, 2005, and EPISODE #316 and EPISODE #320 on July 1, 2005. - W-B (2008)

    • This episode is not in the Fremantle collection, hence it is officially lost and will never be seen on GSN. But, it has been seen to exist on web sites. There might have been a stray Army kinescope or one that had been lifted from the G-T stack. - Suzanne (2004)

    • Paul Winchell would later become famous as the voice of several Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters, his most famous characterization being the villainous "Dick Dastardly" in the television cartoons Wacky Races and Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines. Winchell was also known for voicing the popular "Tigger" in The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, as well as in a few Pooh films. As Winchell moved towards retirement, he shared the role with Jim Cummings, who eventually took over the role full-time in 2000. (Cummings was already the voice of the "tubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff" himself, and continues, as of March 2008, to provide the voices for both characters.) Winchell provided voices for other Disney productions as well. A little-known fact about Winchell is that he is one of the original inventors of an artificial human heart. - Sargebri (2004) with updates by agent_0042 (2008)

    • Paul Winchell appears with his dummy Jerry Mahoney. Panel: Dorothy Kilgallen, Bennett Cerf, Arlene Francis, Hal Block.
