Jack and Will fight over the newly made-over Barry. Karen poses as a maid to date a cute maintenence guy at the hotel and Grace gets stuck in the middle of both stories.
This episode marks the end of a four part story arc where Will and Jack make over Karen's cousin Barry from an overweight and unhappy closeted gay man into a slim, clean-cut classic New York gay man.
At the end of the previous episode, Will realizes his feels of growing affection for Barry, but Jack beats him to the punch and asks Barry out first. So as they draw the arc to a close, Will forces Barry to make a decision... in a funny and inappropriate crash of Jack and Barry's date. The scene results in some very funny jokes involving a peppermill and some great physical comedy between Eric McCormick and Sean Patrick Hayes.
Fans of older NBC sitcoms will recognize Diego from Jesse only here he's much more campy, and almost as cute. Karen is immediately hot and bothered by him, and thinks he would like her more if she were poor. The results in some funny lines between her and Rosie, but I simply don’t by that Karen would gaga over a guy enough to try and clean something.
This is a solid episode with great moments.moreless
Bruno Campos and Dan Futterman guest star
Dan Futterman (Barry) Bruno Campos (Anton) give probably my favorite guest appearances of all time, especially in this episode. They finally put Will and Barry together, though it is short lived, they do get a couple of cute moments a devestating one just for kicks. But Bruno defenitely makes this episode so great. He is this intense janitor type who is just funny, as said intense, and has these completely out of character moments that are fantastic. I wish they had kept him around longer though I do understand why his story was a one shot deal.
And for some reason Jack is in a particuarly narrative mood.
Jack: [while turning to look at Will] Reluctant pivot, inquisitive head tilt?
Jack: Bemused brow raise [raises an eyebrow], shake of head [shakes his head].moreless
