    • Karen: Kiss my 'A'. Will: I'm sorry, what did you say to a representative of The Coalition for Justice? Karen: Gosh, I don't know. Why don't you get your 'D' out of your ear and listen to me? Will: What is the matter with you? And why are you using letters? Karen: Because I'm a lady, ass-face!

    • Will: You've got yourself a fight! Karen: Take your best shot, Fairy Mason.

    • Will: The Coalition for Justice sounds like the kind of place where superheroes work. I'm like the gay Superman, waiting to meet my Lewis Lane.

    Notes (1)

    • This is Bobbi Adler's first appearance since her brief stint in the season 7 episode "It's a Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad World".

    Allusions (3)

    • Will: You've got yourself a fight! Karen: Take your best shot, Fairy Mason. This is a reference to the 1957 tv series Perry Mason. Coincidentally, the actor that played him, Raymond Burr, hid his homosexuality for most of his life.

    • Episode Title: Swish Out of Water This is a pun on the phrase "Fish out of water."

    • Karen: Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. When stuck in her new apartment, Karen starts singing "My Favourite Things" from the film and play The Sound of Music.
