  • This episode develops a number of the characters, and their interrelationships with each other. Jaye and her father, Jaye and her mother, her sister Sharon. It also deals with "the perfect marriage" vs. "the right marriage".

    • Mahandra: Have you been huffing puff paint, because this just isn't like you? Jaye: What do you mean, like me? There is no like me. I'm not like anything, and if I were it certainly wouldn't be me.

    • Darrin: I know when you're careless it's not because you don't care.

    • Gretchen: (About her husband) He's great if I was gonna make a list of what I wanted in a husband. Which I did, actually. Well, Robert is that list. Chuck: So, he's the man of your dreams? Gretchen: He's the man of my list.

    • Gretchen: I've done everything to please him. I've changed religions for God's sake! I'm not going to heaven now! What more does he want?

    • Jaye: How many fractures before it's multiple? Darrin: Two. Jaye: How many do you have? Darrin: Seven. Sharon: (To Jaye) And people say you're an underachiever!

    Trivia (5)

    • In this episode we find out that Sharon has never had a sexual relationship with a man.

    • Jaye's highschool yearbook lists her clubs, sports, and honors as none, none, and none.

    • Jaye says "I know that guy and that guy. And her, and her, and her, and him." - Obviously the three hers must include Mahandra, Karen and Gretchen. She forgot Lucy Simpson, who she mentioned in the trailer with Mahandra earlier this episode, and Margaret Wayne, who she was also discussing about her at The Barrel with Mahandra in the pilot.

    • At The Barrel, the last time Jaye says "No, I don't", her lips don't move.

    • When the car crashes into Darin, we hear metal-hollow trash can noises, even though he was hauling plastic recyling bins and there were no metal trash cans in sight.

    Allusions (2)

    • The scene in which Sharon surreptitiously carries up a bright glass of milk to drug her father is a subtle, hilarious reference to the 1941 Alfred Hitchcock film Suspicion. In the movie, Johnny (Cary Grant) carries a glowing glass of milk up a staircase, and his wife, Lina (Joan Fontaine), believes he is trying to poison her.

    • Jaye: Why are those pilgrims carrying you on that folding chair? Karen: Jaye, stop teasing. You saw Fiddler. This is a reference to the Oscar-winning 1971 movie Fiddler on the Roof, in which a Russian Jewish peasant marries his daughters off. Jaye is acting as if she doesn't recognize a common practice of traditional Jewish weddings.
