    • Co-star Heather McPhaul is Alan Kirschenbaum's assistant.

    • CBS preempted Yes, Dear two weeks before this aired to give a special preview to Christine Baranski's failing sitcom Welcome to New York (which would have been given nothing more than a quick hook after about four episodes if it weren't co-produced by David Letterman's production company). "Jimmy's Jimmy" really just has a football teaser stuck on, so it could pass for a Super Bowl-themed episode, but Welcome to New York did a fully-fledged Super Bowl episode entitled "The Party." Now, if you're going to preempt at all, wouldn't it have made more sense to preempt Yes, Dear on this night and try out New York's Super Bowl episode instead? Of course, in the grand scheme of things, it probably doesn't really matter since, you know, that special preview generated such terrific ratings that Welcome to New York was off the schedule by the end of the week.

    • The original broadcast was a part of "Super Monday," celebrating the XXXV Super Bowl which had aired the day prior, and during which commentators Simms and Gumbel had hyped their upcoming appearance in the teaser. On January 27, 2001, Anthony Clark and Mike O'Malley hosted the CBS special, Super Bowl's Greatest Commercials. It opened with an amusing tinkered-with version of the 1980 'Mean' Joe Greene "Have a Coke and a Smile" spot -- declared the greatest Super Bowl commercial of all time in a national poll -- in which, through the magic of CGI, O'Malley replaces the child, played by Tom Okon, while lipsynching to Okon's voice.

    Trivia (1)

    • When Greg takes Jimmy and his friend to the game, Greg has the better seat but then offers it to Jimmy's friend so he can sit by Jimmy. Then Jimmy notices there are two good seats so he goes to sit with his friend and gives Greg a bag of peanuts, which Greg starts eating. It's been made clear in other episodes that Greg is allergic to peanuts.
