Hawkeye has been in non-stop surgery for 3 straight days without sleep, and the wounded keep coming. He decides to find out who started the war, and sends a telegram to Harry S. Truman. After listening to some of Frank's rubbish about the North Koreans wanting better plumbing, he tries to send the officers' latrine to the North Koreans with an offer of peace. Trapper finally manages to sedate him.

Hawkeye: Why are we here? Why is this war going on? Why does North Korea want to invade America? Is it because of something we said or something we didn't say? What do they want from us? We have guns, they have guns, we have tanks, they want tanks.

Henry: (to Trapper) You know what? If we had any guts, you, me, and (pointing at Hawkeye) the Masked Marvel there would take the next latrine out of here and go home.

Henry: Do we have enough sherry and ginger ale for the general?
Radar: Oh, nobody does, sir.
Henry: Well fine, then, if nobody does, we don't have to. But make sure we do, just in case we don't. (edit) Henry: I'm gonna be frank with you, Pierce.
Hawkeye: You're gonna be frank with me?
Henry: I mean blunt.
Hawkeye: Oh, that's good, otherwise Frank would try to be Henry with me. I don't think I could stand that. (edit)

Radar is pushing Hawkeye in a wheel chair through the camp, Hawkeyes hair is tousled. When they arrive in the swamp, Hawkeyes hair suddenly is combed.

When Hawkeye is getting Radar to send a telegram, he addresses him as "Mercury." In Greco-Roman mythology, Mercury (or Hermes) was the messenger of the gods.
