In this, the intended first episode of the series, Matrix is killed by another hitman but sent back from the border of Hell, where he has to start his new "assignment" by helping out a mobster and his son who wants to become a hitman.
Steven Matrix was a hitman - one of the best - until someone got the drop on him. Suspended between Heaven and Hell, the Forces That Be send him back to Earth to do their bidding. Each episode Matrix is sent to someone in need of help. Matrix is guided to this person by some mysterious person from the In-Between. In the process, Matrix begins to redeem his own bloodsoaked past as well.
