  • The helicopter pilot's wife says he wouldn't have killed himself for the insurance money, because if the insurance company found out, they wouldn't pay. Actually, contrary to popular belief, most insurance policies will pay off on a suicide (provided the policy had been in effect at least six months). []
  • Elias Grace (about Valerie): If I could just speak to her --
Jack McCoy: You've spoken to her enough.
    Elias Grace: My attorney, then.
Jack McCoy: Time to LISTEN! []
  • Adam Schiff: What is this, some kind of crazy cult?
Jack McCoy: More like a self-actualization group.
    Adam Schiff: Self what?
Jack McCoy: Self-delusion, more like. []

  • Lennie Briscoe: If it's Michael Bolton, I'm out of here.

Michael Bolton is an American pop singer who is best known for easy-listening ballads. He has won 2 Grammy Awards and sold over 50 million records worldwide. His fan base tend to be women, and many men find him somewhat annoying. []
  • Ed Green: He's the only passenger that doesn't look like he's been dipped in Pine-Sol.

Pine-Sol is an all purpose liquid cleaning solvent made by the Clorox Company. It contains 20% pine oil, its active ingredient, which gives it a strong pine odor. Presumably, someone dipped in Pine-Sol would appear quite clean. []
  • Lab Technician: The initial explosion wasn't that powerful.
Lennie Briscoe: It did the trick.
Lab Technician: We're not talking Osama bin Laden here, the bomb wasn't sophisticated.

At the time this episode aired, Osama bin Laden was already on the FBI's "Ten Most Wanted" list, wanted by the US government for his role in the 1998 bombings of the American embassies in Tanzania and Kenya, among other things. []
