Born in California to Irish parents, Michael Easton attended prep school in Ireland and England before studying English and history at the University of California and film at New York University. A member of the Writers Guild of America, Michael has written several screenplays including the bio-pic "Monty", about the talented yet tormented actor, Montgomery Clift.

More After his mother's death in 1994, Michael spent time in Paris writing his acclaimed book of prose poetry, "Eighteen Straight Whiskeys". It was published in 1997 by The Bowery Press. Michael has explained his love of poetry as follows: "I'm Irish, and as a Celt poetry is in my blood...I think there's something noble about it to balance out your life in the fake world of TV."

And speaking of the "fake" world of TV, Michael helped to significantly boost ratings over at ABC's daytime soap, Port Charles when he portrayed Caleb, a sensual and wickedly charming vampire, in the "Tempted" story arc which ended December 3, 2001. Michael continued on Port Charles until it ended in 2003. He then was offered the role of Michael McBain on One Life to Live which he as played since October of 2003. Michael now resides in New York.

Michael was excellent as vampire Caleb on "Port Charles" and continues to shine as tormented cop John on "One Life to Live." hide show

I first caught Michael's talent in 2001 when he joined the cast of "Port Charles," the spin-off show of "General Hospital." Michael played a dual role of tormented priest Michael and devious vampire Caleb. Michael pulled off the difficult task with great ease and quickly become a fan favorite. It was Michael's portrayal of Caleb that brought fans to the lowly-rated soap durings its "Tainted Love" story, which proved to be the most popular story arc of the series. When Caleb was killed off, Michael's popularity endured so much that producers brought him back the following year as rock star Stephen Clay, who was soon revealed to be Caleb, back from the undead. When "Port Charles" was cancelled the following year, Michael was quickly snapped up by fellow ABC soap, "One Life to Live." Michael once again proved his talent and versatility by taking on a completely different role, that of tormented FBI agent John McBain. Michael continues to shine in the role and prove he's a true acting talent. You can catch Michael in reruns of "Port Charles" on SoapNet and weekdays on "One Life to Live" on ABC and SoapNet.

Surprise: He's A Very Funny Guy hide show

His "One Life to Live" character "John McBain" is a brooding, tormented police detective, yet Michael Easton adds some dryly humorous touches (probably ad-libbed) to his portrayal. I'd never seen Mr. Easton in any of his previous roles, so I was very pleasantly surprised to see how much he adds to a previously-nearly-unwatchable show. He's got great chemistry with virtually all the other actors, most of whom are also very talented but underused.
